Re: The Heart

I disagree that spiritual thought / concepts cannot be expressed in movies they're in every movie if we're open to seeing them - The City of Angels, The Hereafter, Interview with a Vampire for goodness sake!! Interview with a Vampire? One could say that every movie is a spiritual movie. Ever...

Sam Harris - An Atheist guide to Spirituality

I found this interesting from cultural icon of atheism: http://nautil.us/issue/16/nothingness/an-atheists-guide-to-spirituality I haven't read any of his books, but I generally thought that Sam Harris was good because he promoted rationality over blind faith. That he is into traditional spirituality...

Re: A questionable statement in A New Earth

Are you mad, WW? I just got home from a spiritual discussion group where someone who is in the middle of intense grief was outraged at another person who suggested that we co-create our reality. And I must admit there was a time when I felt the same way. I had trouble accepting that children call s...

Re: detox symptoms from being present ?

I've had several (three?) incidents of times which have lasted three or more months where I've felt agitated, depressed, confused. I did not think of it as detox, but that makes sense. The symptoms are low energy, insomnia, confusion, a loss of motivation in conventional things, isolation and so on....

Re: The Power of Now - Bachelor Thesis - special spiritual w

You're writing about the words Eckhart Tolle uses in the Power of Now, and the words which he uses with particular definitions which I can think of right now are: enlightenment, mind, thought, emotion, pain body, conditioning, fear, sin, Being, God, reality, Now, presence, watcher, thinker, consciou...

Uniqueness and commonality

I wonder if, even though each journey is necessarily unique, whether there are common elements in the journey to clarity. I recently wrote an article (http://www.beyond-karma.com/awakening/self-observation-and-self-honesty/) in which I say that it seems to me that even if every one's path is unique,...

Re: The Shackles Of Physicality

"There’s nothing physical about knowing." Good pointer. I like Jed Mckenna's latest book, bountifully titled "Theory of Everything". For me it cleared up the idea that physical existence is an extension of consciousness. There is only consciousness (source, God). Your pointer is a good one and I ha...

Re: Open relationships

I am one of those on this forum who think that embracing the experience of life is why we're here, and that means embracing all of it, eminently including the pleasures of the senses. Well said! I haven't done well with open relationships or with clandestine affairs. I don't think human beings are ...

Re: Selling out to society

But anyway, I find myself selling out. You're not selling out. You want to experience certain things. I want to make more money. I want a nice life with friends, with connections - even though I also want to awaken and be more psychologically healthy, especially in regards to lacking jealousy, rese...

Re: eckhart tolle tour too expensive

Are there people that read TPoN and do not understand it? I recently met someone who is very resistant to it. I have not experienced this kind of reaction previously. This person is completely against it--he thinks ET is demonizing the mind and he believes that deep thinking is the solution to huma...

Re: I am afraid of Enlightenment

Hi Tupa, Thanks for your very open and interesting story. I appreciate and enjoyed the honesty in your self-observations. I have a feeling that in order to help people and become the person I am supposed to be, I need to reach the highest level of consciousness of what is possible for me. But I am s...

Re: Karma - Who Is The Judge

Karma is just a concept, and its meaning has changed considerably from Hinduism, where it seems to mean action without worrying about the results (karma yoga), to Buddhism, where it seems to mean cause-and-effect of actions, to the contemporary western interpretation where it seems to mean some sort...

Re: Pain body or depression

I'm wondering how do you know the difference between if you're experiencing your pain body or depression. I think they are the same. ET's "pain body" refers to the reactive bundle of remembered and conditioned pains and hurts. Depression, in my view, is the result of self-hating beliefs. It's a par...

Re: How to bring more "yes" to your life?

How to bring more "yes" to your life? In my experience it has been with the gradual process of awakening. It's a process, and it has been gradual, alternating between knowing and experiencing, and gradually moving to clarity. There's never been a time when a pithy spiritual saying has made any kind...
