What Can You Change?

We probably all have experienced belief changes while growing up. Some beliefs are consciously/unconsciously drilled into us. Belief changes may occur through life experiences contradicting the belief. My aunt, who was born in Canada, told me that her belief in Santa Clause was shattered when she sa...

Re: Conscious suffering

Dear Zack, If you do not mind hardship, the classic literature in so called "the Forth Way", "The Work" is G.I. Gurdjieff's Beelzebub's Tales to His Grandson. Please understand, this school is intended to wake people up through hardship. The reading is not going to be very easy. If you are more scie...

Re: Relating with Others

You make the mistake of assuming that authority is my personal authority, because you see yourself as a separate individual. To know that authority for yourself, the thought-bubble you're living in has to be somehow burnt out. When someone comes into contact with me, it is not me as 'David William'...

Re: Relating with Others

You'd be surprised at how much our experiences are shared. I can often feel what another is feeling. Not just emotions but physical pain. Thought is like an eggshell we cocoon ourselves in and it gives the illusion of us living in separate bubbles. When that thought-bubble is destroyed, there are l...

Re: The Ways We Think

On the other hand, a well developed formative thinking may become an even greater obstacle to awakening. It may fortify particular belief, understanding and/or experience from associative thinking. It may also blind one from one's own intuition.

Be aware how you think.

Re: The Ways We Think

Perhaps, the dominance of associative thinking have created many unnecessary miseries for mankind. Not many like to be trained in formative thinking due to personal beliefs, understandings and experiences. And many have ignored their intuitions again due to personal beliefs, understandings and exper...

Re: Ramana Mahrishi in a nutshell

As for this not being the only way to enlightenment, what other ways are there? There are at least four general ways to awakening: 1. Faith: Unwavering belief in something (God, a master, a practice ,or whatever) 2. Love: Serving selflessly. 3. Hope: Consistently being optimistic (or positive). 4. ...

The Ways We Think

I am going to make theory statements again. We think with association: the symbol Red saw by our eyes associate It to the memory of spectrum of red colour experiences. This type of thinking often colored by our personal beliefs, understandings and experiences. We think in forms: Symbol manipulation ...

Re: Ramana Mahrishi in a nutshell

Dear Andy, Perhaps, I misrepresented myself. On the scale of consciousness, Mother Teresa achieved a similar level as that of Ramana Maharshi without self-inquiry. She did go through dark night of the soul experience when she sincerely questioned her personal faith. This may be an equivalent to self...

Before studying Zen, a mountain is a mountain.
While studying Zen, the mountain is not a mountain.
After studying Zen, the mountain is still a mountain.

Re: Relating with Others

Life energy is like electricity. My left big toenail turned black recently and is in the process of falling off because of that energy. I am in awe of it and respect it, that is what I was warning Tony against. Don't play with it, or insult it. That is the fire they often refer to in the bible - th...

Awareness of Chinese Tea

I am not a great story teller. My experience with Chinese Tea may illustrate something about Awareness. About 5 years ago, I decided to cut myself off from "spirituality". On the Christmas day, I happened to taste a Chinese tea, a gift to my Aunt by somebody. I never had any interest in Chinese tea ...

Re: Relating with Others

What have I been saying ever since I've been here? Questioning why you are listening to anyone, including me. Quite clearly you aren't listening to me anyway. Much easier to listen to those nice, pleasant spiritual ones who sell you comforts. Then you can criticise me for using common language whil...

Re: Why Are You Still Alive?

Suicide is not a way out. Void is not a way out. According to reincarnation, there is no way out of being alive unless one freely choose to be forever separated from God, Life
