Re: Awareness vs. Brain

Fundamentally the question you are asking is this: Am I the brain? Or am I awareness? --- This is the biggest question of all: who am I, really? I have no expertise nor experience in neuroscience or psychiatry. But I do have experience in being me, the personality that I call me. In this experience ...

Re: Observing emotions - too literal?

Luke, Great questions, and great quest. In my experience the more I become aware of my emotions, my "inner state", the less I suffer. The nature of the mind is such that it wants to run from itself, towards other imagined horizons. There is not a thing that we see that is not our creation. All good ...

Re: Trouble Sleeping..

The idea of being in the Now, in the place between two thoughts, is not based on resistance. It is based on acceptance, even invitation of that which troubles us. What we do not process during the day, what we pretend to ignore during the day, shows up at night. Dreams are perhaps a way of the mind ...

Re: Inner Peace

There are many levels of awakening. Other stages may yet reveal themselves. Even if as you say you are free of ego, you may yet take time, clock time, to integrate. Usually the process of freedom is something that is characterized by significant breakthroughs, that in many cases are simply an openin...

Re: 'Monday morning' feeling

Years ago in early 90s I used to go see Gangaji on Sunday nights. I told her one time that the strength or high I got from her presence was lost by the time Tuesday rolled around. She said "invite Tuesday to satsang". Everyone laughed, as did I, but I had no idea as to what she really meant. There a...

Re: Financial crisis

Here's my two cents: Eckhart has quoted the following thoughts from Jesus on at least one occasion, and here I am reproducing the larger quote from the original source: Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will ...

Re: Psychics, Mediums, Clairvoyance, Spirit Guides

This is all a distraction from the quest to stabilize in the NOW. People are unwilling to make peace with how things are, therefore all these people (psychics etc.) exist. In my experience the more I let go, the more I am in the NOW, the more perfectly things unfold. --- Most people are not ready fo...

Re: A child's voice in my head

Keep on watching...

This is a 24 x 7 discipline, it is also called "eternal vigilance"...

It is not for the faint hearted.

Everything passes.

All bliss, all ecstasy, all suffering, everything passes...

Re: Duallism

Melinyel wrote: Isn't dualism only existent when you are lost in ego? The ego labels experiences as good and bad, afterall. Is there a time when one is not lost in ego? --- Dualism has a purpose. Mainstream religions have within them a kernel of truth. They are like our modern-day rivers, heavily po...

Re: Looking to meet local friends who also appreciate Eckhart

In regards to your most recent edited post: I am on Meetup.com to find local friends without success. No one near 50 miles from here. Before that I went through Eckhart's site to see if one of those groups is near and there is not. Plus I am looking to make like-minded friends and his website groups...

Re: Book Recommendation for the Sceptics?

I don't know of too many people, especially "obstinate types", who will read a book on the topic of spirituality given to them by people they don't hold in high regard. The only thing you can do is to stabilize more in the Now, and let go more, to where you cannot even conceive of why you would ever...

Re: Looking to meet local friends who also appreciate Eckhart

This reply may also help others who are new to these discussion forums and are thinking along similar lines to the question posed above. I have been on this forum for a couple years or more and typically people do not hook up from this forum in order to have local meetings. Rarely has this taken pla...

Re: Tolle Criticism

I actually think people should read the criticisms. This website rickross.com treats almost every major teacher and teaching out there as a type of a cult. I wish that rickross would also offer themselves up for criticism. I think that the best teachers are criticized heavily. No website or discussi...
