Re: Loss of joy

In my experience, joy is spontaneous. It is not constant or reproducible due to repeating some activity (such as meditation). Moreover, it comes and go quickly, only lasting for a few seconds. Sometimes I smile, laugh, or break into a dance or run, for no reason other than joy. The occurrence of joy...

Re: What is enlightenment like? or what is it not?

Enlightenment = the end of suffering. Not more knowledge. Not nothingness.

Enlightenment is not special, and it is readily attainable by everybody.

Re: Meditation frustration

It is important to get a break from the stream of thought as frequently as you can throughout the day. 15-30 minutes of meditation a day is sufficient. Try five 3-minute sessions or six 5-minute sessions throughout the day. Once your presence power grows, you can put your awareness into your mind or...

Re: Presence is living as if you don't exist right?

Presence is being conscious. It is a state where there is no unconscious thinking. Unconscious thinking generates a vast amount of negative thoughts and emotions, and the end result is highly destructive for the person and for the planet.

Re: It all feels like an excuse sometimes

Thinking is the problem here. More specifically, time(past and future) thrive in thought - thought(most of which is unconscious) sustains past and future. Awareness is the key. You end time by being present. How? By being aware of your thoughts. The thoughts will quickly subside, and past and future...

Re: Presence or numbing?

How can you stop thinking? Where is the off switch? You are right, you are numbing yourself mentally and suppressing your emotions. What you are really doing is playing mind games with yourself, in the mistaken belief that you are stopping thinking, and you associate this with being present(and by e...

This. Getting shut out by work colleagues will not end well. When at work, play the happy at work game. Engage more, smile more.

Re: The resting method vs the looking method

I am not familiar with the resting method, but the looking method is doomed to fail.

Mind activity is the root cause of problems, therefore mind activity cannot be the solution to problems.

Re: Who feels their inner body?

Dylan, Feeling the Inner body will not work to overcome any kind of typical nervous illness like social phobia, anxiety, panic, ocd or agoraphobia. . . . Inner body awareness is just B.S in my opinion.... it doesn't serve you any useful long term benefit for anything. If you want to become more pre...

Re: Journalling And Hanging On To The Past

Throw all your journals into the bin. Nothing that you did or said in the past matters now. Hanging onto the past will keep you trapped in unconsciousness and drain you of energy and vitality.

Re: Do things get worse before they get better?

Since doing this and noticing small improvements inwardly such as experiencing a background stillness and peace sometimes that was not their before and reacting a little less to stress and hard life situations I've noticed that things have gone from bad to worse in my life situation. Don't confuse ...

Re: Difficulties observing severe emotional pain

You can observe thought, but how can you observe an emotion? The emotion is in the body, so you can feel it. Whenever you are aware of a negative emotion, or whenever you feel bad, put your awareness into your body. By putting your awareness into your body, you will feel the emotion as a matter of c...

Re: Lose presence when in groups?

When you are in the presence of other people, immediately put your awareness into your body. People can pull you into unconsciousness very quickly. Unconsciousness is like a virus - it jumps from host to host as if it is transmitted through the air. With your awareness in your body, you are less min...

Re: Living Your Life On A Schedule

I feel that plans can be dangerous if you force yourself to follow a routine that sacrifices the present moment for the future. You misunderstand the meaning of the present moment, and more importantly, presence. You are in the present moment now. Every moment of your life is now. Any activity that...
