Re: Daily practice

Quite right Onceler, quite right. :) Watching The Thinker is not for everybody, and neither is constant awareness. I was emphasising that WTT is the only meditation technique that can completely still the mind. You have suffered a lot, and I am very glad to know that you are in a better place now. :)

Re: Daily practice

I don't know if this has ever been bluntly articulated, by any teacher, and I speak from experience: only awareness of thought can stop thought dead in it's tracks. This is true stillness, true presence, true bliss. Feeling the inner body, awareness of environment/senses, physical meditations like Q...

Re: Daily practice

Yes, I became neurotic and anxious trying to be constantly aware......so neurotic and anxious that I have up the spiritual search. It was too stressful. This consumed most of my adult life, but I won't go into the details of the ebb and flow. . . . From the many posts I've read on this forum, many ...

Re: Daily practice

I would agree, constant awareness is a recipe for neurosis. In another thread, you said "I...have long advocated that posters speak from personal experience and have tried to do so myself". Are you speaking from experience now? Did you experience constant awareness, and became neurotic? This is not...

Re: Is Wanting Always Bad? And Lack of Motivation

Wanting(desire) comes with an attachment of negativity - the feeling of lack, of not having enough, of incompleteness. And the actions taken to obtain the objects of desire are driven by negativity i.e. worry, anxiety, fear. Just as important, wanting requires time, and time is the space in which su...

Re: Meaningless life purpose...

The need for recognition or a legacy is egoic in nature. In the light of presence, there is no ego, and these questions would not arise. The primary purpose of your life is to be present.

Re: Suicide vs Egocide

Being present is not enough. If you are truly present, you'd realise that this statement is false. Past and future can't exist in the present. You are haunted by your past because you are not present. I'm tired of pretending to "let go" and not actually being able to let go. That is because letting...

Re: Meaningless life purpose...

If you want to live a fulfilling life, all you need are food, clothing, shelter and presence. A job will take care of your basic human needs, and presence will take care of everything else. Let that be your guide.

Re: Dreaming and consciousness.

Hi, since some months, I can remember my everyday dreams. When I wake up I instantly write them I don't think dreams are random images, they must have a meaning. I've been recording my dreams for 5 years, and they are almost all random. A few may reflect current events. Here is an excerpt from my d...

Re: Feeling the inner body constantly

The inner body is intensely alive at all times, and thus is equally accessible at all times . All that is required is a tiny bit of awareness. If you can't feel it during physical activities, it is because the activity is taking up all of your awareness. With practice, your ability to feel will grow...

Re: Are Eckhart Tolle’s teachings clear and effective?

Surrender and acceptance is not something that you actively do (mentally, by thinking "Ok, I surrender or accept this"), it is something that happens to you in the light of presence. Thinking is the cause of suffering, and therefore thinking can't be the solution to suffering. In the stillness of pr...

Re: Imagination and being in the Now

Nice. I was only suggesting that we old timers must be a disappointment. I'd like to hear more about your experience of the now.....how did you come to experience bliss? Do you have a practice or some other means, an opening or awakening? A teacher? Tolle? I don't want to hijack this thread and mak...

What do you mean? Presence is a very satisfying experience. I can't find a more appropriate word to describe it other than bliss.

Re: Imagination and being in the Now

Edit: This is in response to Onceler. :) I don't mean to be rude or personal, but from the time that I've spent on this forum, it appears that many of the regulars(including the moderators) have missed the entire essence of the now. :D It is one thing to theorise something, philosophy about it, regu...

Re: Why give if it won't make people happy?

If I'm not mistaken, the meaning of life is happiness, to make others happy (which can only be done through spirituality), and therefore yourself. The external form of material value is irrelevant. But a person with knowledge and intuition for spirituality would enlighten more people into happiness...
