Re: Mantras to Meditate On?

I would like to add an excerpt from Osho's talks. He talks about the significance of "Aum". It is from the book "Vedanta - Seven Steps to Samadhi": "This word aum is very symbolic. First, this word aum consists of three sounds: a, u, m. These three sounds are the basic sounds, all the sounds are cre...

Re: Who was the first person to be truly aware?

Thanks Maaref.. I agree with what you are saying... 'Who was the first person to be truly aware?' is actually the title for the blog article I shared, it is not an actual question from me though. The post is a talk by Sadhuguru Jaggi Vasudev who is very popular Guru in India. I think the title for t...

Re: One of the biggest traps

Wow, Quite a lot has happened in this thread since I logged in the last time. It is interesting to see your different view points... Rob X and Maaref, Can you tell me a little bit about the books you have read or the teachers you have worked with? From your replies, even though a little bit of what ...

Re: One of the biggest traps

What is not beside the point is the easy and simple inquiry that anyone can do to see their essential nature and get rid of fear in their lives (and the desire for salvation). I believe if more people did this it would have a huge impact on the state of the world and fear motivated behavior like gr...

Re: Spirituality Jokes

Thanks Painbody, Here is another one: It happened once that Mulla Nasruddin owned a hotel. Then he was arrested and brought to the court of the town, because he was caught mixing horse meat in chicken cutlets. But he confessed and he said, ”I have been committing this crime,” and he pleaded guilty. ...

Re: One of the biggest traps

I've come to the conclusion that enlightenment (as I often hear and read about it) is a myth .. Robx, I used to wonder if it could be a myth. But I would never come to a conclusion that enlightenment is a myth. I just prefer to say "I don't know" and at the same time be open to what the scriptures ...

Re: One of the biggest traps

Hi Onceler, I'm not sure what I thought enlightenment entailed, other than the end of suffering. .. That is the bottom line, end of suffering. I began my journey to end my own suffering, not because I found something appealing in the idea of enlightenment. What you describe doesn't even sound desira...

Re: One of the biggest traps

Several times I tried to shut down our discussion, by saying let's just agree to disagree or let's not go around and around about this, but for whatever reason it continued. Which is fine, but your going to have to understand that if I disagree with you, I will say so. I was just stating a couple o...

Re: One of the biggest traps

I don't find another path necessary, so why waste my time reading a different tradition For you to realize yourself, another path is not necessary..But that is not what I am talking about. When we are discussing things, sometimes you disagree with certain things by picking single statements and the...

Re: How to UNLEARN Enlightenment?

Alan Watts, Enlightenment is just realizing your true nature. You cannot discard yourself... :) Is UN-Enlightenment possible once it written upon the mind? Your true nature is not written upon anything.. But everything you perceive and experience is written upon your true nature, thats why it is hid...

Re: One of the biggest traps

Hmm, perhaps the scandal I was remembering was the 1984 "Rajneeshee bioterror attack" where 710 people were poisoned, and an "assassination plot" to murder US Attorney Charles H. Turner. But, Osho was called the sex guru, we can all use our imagination... . Both acts you mention was done by Ma Anan...

One more thing about me posting excerpts, I also do it so that it is helpful for other people. The messages in these excerpts could be valuable for many other people in the forum and for future readers of this thread as well. Re: One of the biggest traps

Excuse me?... I did read it fully and I did ignore what Osho said and from what I've heard about him (93 Rolls Royce's, sex scandals and deportation) I choose not to read Osho stuff nor necessarily believe what he says, although I did read it, because you posted it, but I won't do so in the future....

Re: One of the biggest traps

So, I've been taught that after Moksha (freedom/liberation) the Prarabdha Karma plays out, once exhausted the jiva's gross body dies. Just as an arrow that's already released will continue on to its target...there is no stopping it. After Moksha, not only prarabdha, but Sanchita karma also dissolve...

Re: One of the biggest traps

Regarding Adya, I agree, we are slated for certain karma's even after enlightenment /Moksha. As they say, Isvara (God) doesn't care if your enlightened. Once you are awakened (have experienced a satori, not enlightenment) , you still have your Karma which you have to burn out. But the Moksha or the...
