Re: Vegetarian

I think with the issue of vegetarianism, situationism should certainly apply. In developing countries, for example, it's a lot harder to get hold of tofu or other foods that can be substitutes for the nutrients we lose out on when giving up meat. In the West, it's much easier to be a vegetarian and ...

Re: getting in touch with inner body

I'm sorry I'm posting so late, I just stumbled across your post. I know this isn't in reference to your primary question, but you mentioned your struggles with an eating disorder, so you might be interested in Geneen Roth's 'Women, Food and God', which advocates using presence as a way to deal with ...

Re: Help

I've started listening to/reading Adyashanti...he talks about this feeling of numbness, limbo, emptiness...it's still ego trying to disrupt things. This was just what I wanted to read! I've been experiencing the same emptiness and numbness, pain, but there are intermittent experiences of joy. The s...

Re: Allowing everything to be as it is

Thank you for your help. I think I'll stay with it, it takes courage to face up to what you don't want to see.

Re: Allowing everything to be as it is

I'm sorry I took so long to reply; I forgot that this post was on here! Well I'm endeavouring not to judge what I experience, but I feel no sense of aliveness, just a nothingness, which seems to be what Adya and other teachers describe, but there is no aliveness there, no joy. Am I missing something...

Re: Inner body cheating?

I guess it doesn't really matter which portal you use; as long as it's bringing you peace. Thank you for your perspective :)

Inner body cheating?

Being grounded in the body often helps me to feel more alive, but after experiencing profound awakenings with Adyashanti's 'allowing everything to be as it is' or direct approach, I cannot help but feeling that this is 'cheating' in some way, as I am controlling where my attention goes. Eckhart has ...

Re: Thich vs. Tolle

I like to read both teachers, and I have to say there are lots of similarities but sometimes I feel as though I have to choose one of them. For example, Thich Nhat Hanh speaks a lot about concentration whereas Tolle says that presence is effortless. I am not sure whether these differences are becaus...

Allowing everything to be as it is

When I allow everything to be as it is, I often find myself feeling dead and it never seems to pass, has anyone else experienced this?

And also when practicing in daily life I stil seem to be as irritable as I was before I found spirituality XD

Re: Feeling the inner body

Thank you so much for this advice :) I'm going to try this out at school this week and see what happens, starting with the solar plexus or belly as this is the actual centre of the body. The feeling is wonderful, it's just remembering to do it and getting the feeling throughout your whole body.

Re: Feeling the inner body

Guys this is great advice :) mouse I tried your advice in my meditation today, but now I ask how can I maintain this whilst I have my attention on other things, such as writing an essay or spending time with friends, can you feel all of the body at once in these situations or just as parts?

Feeling the inner body

I can always feel certain parts of my body when I use this portal to get in touch with the inner energy field. However I can never seem to feel the body as a whole and I can't help thinking that this is something I'm missing out on :P If I continue to feel only a certain part, such as my hands, will...
