Re: The best explanation of free will ever

I am interested in the subject line of this thread. Then I was interested in the video because I mistakenly thought it was 18 minutes. Instead it is an hour and 18 min. When I was on about minute 14 or 15 or 16 I thought . . . What a lot of wind to say ... what? That we can tell why people do things...

Re: I don't like being "god"

AnonyMouse - look at your profile picture. It's so cute. are you the little fish jumping out of the bowl to be in the big sea or the little fish in the big sea looking to get back into the little bowl? Whichever fish you are, the other fish (those other people) are not really so different from you. ...

Re: button pushing among friends

Ralph and rideforever: I thought I was copping to my own culpability here, announcing that I know it is I who must change - but it did not seem that way to you, so I "take" that too. I see, rideforever, how expressed a lot of what "I want" and that that is controlling. So I was what I was complainin...

Re: button pushing among friends

yes, dear smiileyjen - that is precisely what I must do: be kinder. Breathe and smile when she tells me what to do. It is an opportunity. it is that simple.

Ralph - the 'why' is my "ego" - not wanting to be told what to do. It is that simple.

button pushing among friends

I have a very good friend who pushes my buttons. I know they are my buttons and that it is my "job" not to feel them pushed. I know it is my job not to FEEL my buttons pushed and not REACT. Winnowing down this post, I see now that I am holding onto a desire to get her to realize what she is doing. W...

oh my gosh, smiileyjen. that was so many receptors for so many senses plus so many remembrances of so many senses plus then the dropping of remembrances that the very height of the stacks of number tumbled me into . . .

Re: Off the Grid

yes to all you say, tod. and yes.
thx for the reminder that it's nothing for a little "I" to be proud of!
i am glad I started reading books again - it seems like the little "I" dissolves in the greatness of great writing: one just merges with the other.

Off the Grid

ok! for 11 days I went "off the grid" to reconnect with the world-world. No computer, no tv, no cell phone, no radio - and not even a Kindle. I highly recommend it. I saw a sunrise: sat in the dark and watched the light light up for 90 minutes. I read 3 books and am in the middle of 3 others. I sat....

Re: The Sacred and the profane and THE BIG BLACK HOLE

Ah! Hey, you two! nice replies. snowheight - I like the way you say that the trick is to believe all of it - and really all of it. Bingo. I learned this from my mother when I realized how dead set against abortion she is (was). Why ever ever ever fight it, thought I. It is so very much nicer to acce...

Indeed. Just read this quote from Emily Dickenson: "To live is so startling it leaves little time for anything else."

The Sacred and the profane and THE BIG BLACK HOLE

I am not a football fan and have never seen Tim Tiebow play, but this discussion of him moved me. http://www.therightscoop.com/bill-whittle-tim-tebow-is-the-best-man-ive-ever-seen/ Even the comments, to me, are revelatory. is it blasphemy on this forum to suggest that the Christian view of God's han...

Re: Short LSD research video speaks our language

interesting use of terms to which we are not accustomed but to which we were not, in the 50s, accustomed: e.g., there is no 'me' and there is no 'inside'

interesting look at "a lady" of the 50s and how the demeanor of "women" of the post 90s has shifted to the less demure, more ... whatever.

Re: A step towards oneness (?)

I do not want to sound overly clever or to insinuate that "I" as some sort of "entity" is "enlightened ... BUT the title of this thread made me realize immediately that what we could all benefit from seeing is that every step is a step towards oneness - because that is all there is. Oh, a step towar...
