Re: walking the walk

well, perhaps just remember that it is your ego that sees another ego.
If you have no ego, you will not really see other's egos because you know know they are all illusory and you will see through them.

 try THAT on for size!

Re: walking the walk

Academic here, too. I left the Ivory Tower years ago - took to a life in computers - and now back in academe. When I first visited my new department, I found myself in a time warp: it seemed that nothing had changed, no advances, no happiness, no new discoveries in my field, and no happy secretaries...

Re: Close observation & results

I worked in Facilities for years, too. Very disorganized department, not well integrated with related or sub-departments. So make it fun. Your interests have drifted to searches for what you like on the Internet. Carry that same curiosity to work. Someone approaches you about his office repair. You ...

Oh that is priceless. Standing in line will be, will be. someone recently inadvertently copied me on an email to others - and I took that as a notice that she wanted me to know something she could not tell me herself. Years ago, I was urged by someone to call someone else. The line was busy twice, s...

Re: NDE, Clair (abilties), synchronicity

ha ha the milk in the face made me laugh out loud, smiilyjen I was sitting on a hill in Berkeley my first February - I thought it was heaven. I grew up back East, and it was the first time I was warm enough all my life. I truly thought it was heaven. It looked like heaven, felt like heaven, smelled ...

Re: NDE, Clair (abilties), synchronicity

um - wow. I just spent the last hour reading the six pages of this thread. I read it fast, and I could read it all again. I had been following this at the start when it was only a page and a half - so many weeks or months ago - and even sent the URL to two close friends back then. Then I lost track ...

Re: Finding Peace of Mind and Joy...or The Zen of Cats

this interview with Cesar Millan and Eckhart Tolle is the most satisfying of all interviews I can think of.
It was mentioned above, and I repeat it here for ease http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0CNWK2dSsqU&NR=1

this is Part I - you can click to Parts II and III from the You Tube page

SmileyJen - To surrender is peace. What is is. Something about knowing for sure that we are in something we cannot know is sufficient. It is so clear that one can only surrender, accept, be. So, "higher" - more love - ? More real, more acceptance.

Re: Presence vs "In the zone"

There is an academic psychologist at Penn (believe it or not) who speaks of this now http://www.authentichappiness.sas.upenn.edu/Default.aspx Name: Seligman. He suggests to his peers that rather than studying how to be not-sick (not-neurotic and not-psychotic) they really ought to be studying how to...

Re: Another Enlightening Near Death Experience

LOL - SmileyJen: you keep saying to start a new thread on this but the funny thing about this wildly spiritual experience is that it has made me more humble. I would not say that it has made me know anything in particular, but, rather, that it has made me know. This knowing is present whenever I rem...

Re: Another Enlightening Near Death Experience

well without going into the details both because they are so personal and, because they are personal, they would not mean much to anyone besides me (you would have to believe them - on faith!) let me speak of it another way. Lets say that your mother (or loved one) adored to have, oh, salted peanuts...

Re: Another Enlightening Near Death Experience

THX FOR the commentary, SmileyJen. I like it.
I have not had a NDE, but I recently had a session with a medium that removed my faith in "something bigger" and replaced it with direct knowledge.
