Re: Why do I feel guilty about looking forward to something?

I do overthink everything, it seems. Working on diminishing that as I become more awakened. And, Jen, my "sense of guilt" often feels benign, but other times feels malignant. And yet, it isn't always easy to know if my ego is effecting this conclusion or not... A lot of my guilt stems from finding t...

Why do I feel guilty about looking forward to something?

Hi all, Since becoming more enlightened by reading Tolle, I have also developed a sense of guilt when I find myself looking forward to something. Whether it be looking forward to my husband getting home at night so we can have a nice dinner or looking forward to the weekend when I can get a break fr...

Re: Does it ever feel forced to you?

Heidi, You DID answer my question, actually! What I felt I needed to know was if bringing myself back to the present as often as possible could eventually become more fluid and automatic. At this point in my life I need something somewhat tangible to grasp onto. Something I can do on a physical vs t...

Re: Does it ever feel forced to you?

This all makes a lot of sense. Taking the time to breathe and observe without judgment every so often. And of course, now I'm obsessing about the fact that I will never get to integrate Tolle's practices into my world. But I guess I have to start somewhere as far as calming the mind somewhat so that...

Re: Does it ever feel forced to you?

Rob, I felt a sense of relief when I read what you wrote. Knowing I am not alone with these inner conflicts. I can completely relate to the nagging sense of doing it wrong- the relentless need to get to a better place. And I realize that this alone is contrary to simply just being. I imagine this is...

This is a process, right?

Hi there, I realize that the ego is telling me, "Practice the techniques each day. 24 hours a day. Be in the present as often as possible. The moment you catch yourself "out of the moment" focus on your surroundings and breathe. Do this every time an obsessive thought starts to multiply into a state...

Re: Does it ever feel forced to you?

Thank you both for your input- I really appreciate it. ZenDrumming, you wrote: "Next time you meditate, don't call it meditation. Just sit there, and let your mind do what it will. Do your thoughts have a solid foundation, or are they simply wisps of smoke?" My thoughts are often racing, overwhelmin...

Does it ever feel forced to you?

Hi, I have been reading Tolle's books for a couple of years now. When I first read The Power of Now and A New Earth I found myself comprehending almost everything he wrote about with every inch of my body and mind. I found myself smiling while I read his books and felt a sense of great peace within ...

New to this site

Hi all,

My name is Jen and I am and have been appreciating and engaged in Tolle's books for a couple of years now. It wasn't until recently that I decided to commit to becoming more present and I am glad to have a place where I can share my experiences and learn from others as well.
