Church of 80% sincerity

A very powerful spiritual book which is entirely based on author's real life experience. In a way, this book is more powerful than PON because PON only gives a small real life experience from Tolle.

Re: Alert to the side effect of alertness

Thanks for the feedback, garuda Very much appreciate that indeed. It reminds me to make a point that I always wanted to make: once I realized who I really am (the deathless one life), then words (I, my, mine, etc) would always refer to "little me" unless it is self evident that I was talking about t...

Alert to the side effect of alertness

Taking a walk on the street, a thought came to my mind: this is already a new Earth, nothing needs to be done to arrive at 'A New Earth'. Then I realized that I have stopped watching my mind long time ago, I switched from watching my mind to being alert at some point, and then I abandoned being aler...

Re: Sharon-X's Smelly armpits

It is really like driving a car, you have gas pedal and brake. You step on the gas when there is a lot of space before your car, and you step on the brake when there is a traffic jam. It is indeed more fun to step on the gas, to enjoy the acceleration. Don't worry, the cars behind you will honk at y...

Re: Some Tough Questions

if we truly believe that the whole of the Truth is contained within the book Tolle said, it is important to read the book frequently, but it is MORE important to put the book down. The truth is not inside the book, but inside the letting go of thoughts. in the next one million years, human is going...

Re: Too much spirituo-babble

Tolle makes the point that the pathway of enlightenment for spiritual teacher is likely to be in this order
in dealing with students in auditorium (easiest)
then with subordinates in office
lastly with family members at home (most difficult)

Re: Too much spirituo-babble

In "A guide for Spiritual teacher" by Tolle, he talked about a spiritual teacher (a she), who shouts in her office everyday, her secretary was very stressed. of course Tolle did not mention her name.

Re: Ego is neccessary?

I have a big ego, and it is geting bigger and bigger. It gets so big, that I often see myself as one entire humanity. I feel the pain of people outside spiritual field, unable to use the suffering to ascend to the higher spiritual identity. I also feel the pain of spiritual seekers who like to have ...

Re: Self-remembrance Vs. Forgetting the self

Tolle pointed out that if you walk in the forest and suddenly forgot about your name, your past history, this is fine. in fact this can be really liberating. no accumulation of psychological time.

Re: Too much spirituo-babble

According to Tolle, a spiritual teacher shouts at people in her office everyday and makes the working environment quite stressful for her secretary. I don't mind the spiritual babbles of the teachers, because they have done the best in formulating the mumble jumble pointers. But the teacher could he...

Re: Red Flags

NowIsNotForSale, Interesting topics. I have a few comments. 1. There is no personal transformation beyond repackaging. When a person is in deep peace, the portal is open. that is to say the following components gets automatically repackaged in this moment: a.all the books he has read (Tolle did ment...

Re: Presence does not lead to enlightenment

1) What is "enlightenment"? 2) How do you know it's real? 3) How do you gage who is really enlightened & who is full of shit? 4) Assuming enlightenment exists - How do you know what worked for them will work for you (after all, vastly different diets work for people as do vastly different hobbies, ...

Re: Presence does not lead to enlightenment

I told him that I read POW and Eckhart said to become enlightened you have to stay present. Then Roger said "I don't agree". Whaa??? He said that presence can alter your life experience but it won't lead you to truth. There is still the idea of a someone being present. There are a lot of criticism ...

Re: What excites you?

So as excitement & fear decrease, contentment increases? in a way, excitement and fear are the two sides of the same thing, while this thread is about excitement, but I can sense the fear between the lines (fear that life becomes no fun, how dreadful that is). When the excitement and fear are much ...

Re: Science and Technolgy

I remember reading this quote from Tolle. I think he thinks "much of the technology" may disappear. I don't think he refered to "science". I agree with Tolle that indeed is possible. Certainly much of the weapon may disappear. Even essential technology such as telephone may not be needed. You may no...
