Re: The serenity of sitting under a tree

What a beautiful post Ashley! I love the photo. Thank you.

I actually do enjoy sitting on the ground, with my back against a tree and just allowing everything to be exactly as it is. Nowhere to go, nothing to do. Especially on a sunny day. :D

Re: The Unmanifested

Hi Leon, Perhaps you have been unable to reach it because you are it already. Literally. Here and now you are it. I suggest you have a look for what's already here. What has always been here. Between thoughts there is a gap. However brief if may be. My suggestion is keep watching these gaps. Be more...

Re: Breaking THROUGH! More confusion and more pain...

Hi jada02, It seems to me that you are on a good path! Often when we feel like we are going backwards, that we are falling apart, we are actually moving forwards! I know it can get overwhelming sometimes. I think what you are describing might be repressed emotion surfacing. This is very good! If you...

Re: Does form automatically improve with the awareness of be

Does reading ET improve one's consciousness and being by reducing the noise caused by thought? My understand is that consciousness is already perfect. It doesn't need to improve. I think ET or similar books are pointing us to direct our attention back from the world of form to the formless, pure co...

Re: Mindfulness... looking for a way out

I wish I had a dime for every time I have heard a statement like this "just get over it", "suck it up", "what are you complaining about", "pull yourself up by your bootstraps". If I could "pull up my britches and keep moving" I would. Yes. I believe you really would if you could. People have said s...

Re: what happened to ET during those days on the park bench?

Yes! Byron Katie's husband. They did a book on the Tao together called 'A Thousand Names for Joy. ' Oh! I got a copy of A Thousand Names for Joy last year and loved it! I remember Byron referring to her husband Stephen in the book but I didn't realise it was Stephen Mitchell. Thanks for pointing th...

Grace,I can understand it's taking time to dissolve, that sounds normal. I agree about the backslides. Had plenty of them myself!

Re: what happened to ET during those days on the park bench?

Its good to resonate with you guys on this... Have either of you heard of the Valley Spirit? It's a bit of Taoist wisdom, which I believe is a metaphor for listening...being open & receptive. Eckhart Tolle says, “There is real power there when you let go of the ego’s need for power (to be th...

Re: what happened to ET during those days on the park bench?

Ashley, I totally agree with you about the listening.

Recently, when I'm waking along the street or talking public transport I find myself listening to the sounds around me. I notice sounds I hadn't noticed before! Its actually very enjoyable.

Re: anxiety

Yes I was referring to both! I had BDD since I was a teenager. What happens now is if an underlying thought appears I see it as simply being a thought and that's that. They don't cause disturbance or bouts of misery and anxiety like they used to. Its good that your husband is working to dissolve his...

Re: anxiety

Maybe what's surfacing now had been repressed? I know sometimes we try to avoid painful issues until we can't avoid them anymore I had body dysmorphia for years and all sorts of anxieties. Very severe at times. My boyfriends were angry and critical. (I'm single now). My issues probably attracted me ...

Re: John Sherman - Just One Look

I like Just One Look too. I began 'looking' two years ago. The first day I looked I was inspired to start reading Nisargadatta's I Am That. Hadn't heard of Nisargadatta before that. Initially it was all blissful. A few months into the looking I found myself falling apart emotionally and physically. ...

Re: anxiety

Well, what I really meant was a shift to being the awareness of the person who is anxious instead of being a person who is anxious. Simply witnessing or watching without being affected. I think that is what you were describing in your original post when you wrote about your experience of getting out...
