Perfect Beings in an imperfect universe

Today, while once more mulling over how inadequate my parents were, it dawned on me that the Spiritual answer might be better than the psychological answer as to why my parents were so damned inadequate and such failures. :( I recalled someone saying that we are Spiritual beings having a human exper...

Re: What to let go of

I just wanted to know what your first spiritual experience was that taught you how to let go and what is it that I'm letting go of? For me, it was letting go of my little, personal self and becoming something much bigger, wiser and HAPPIER than my little personal self ever was. I believed that bles...

Re: Ramana Maharshi Summary Comment

Who am I? Inquire in this way turning the mind backward to its primal state. The inquiry 'who am I?' is the only method of putting an end to all misery and ushering in Supreme Beatitude. I have been reading and trying Ramana's teachings and methods for many years but have only recently made a break...

Re: Self-Esteem?

Great suggestions. I guess what I am wondering is, I want to feel good about myself and is that egoistical? Yes, but SO WHAT? Would anyone tell you that you should NOT feel good about your self or any other thing? I mean i feel good I do better, and I am connecting with other people better when I a...

Re: Self-Esteem?

As a neurotic, mentally damaged person who had to work very hard to undo the parental damages in my childhood and replaced them with something better, I found self esteem work to be of great benefit and, UNTIL I reach ETs states of Consciousness, Being and Presence, I'm sticking with all that I lear...

Re: Depression & trauma of another

My partner's childhood was full of abuse, neglect and death. This has led him to identifying with feelings/thoughts of inadequacy, abandonment, low self worth, Inevitably, these feelings/thoughts spiral down to the relationship we have. In many ways, this describes me & my childhood and how it affe...

A "pointer" doesn't get much better than that, IMO.

Re: The Ultimate Duality

The ultimate duality, for me, in this whole process of awakening is the concept and experience of self vs. Self. Jillions of words have been written about it here and elsewhere, but I believe it is where the most suffering arises, and enough cannot be said. OK, all I can offer is that there is only...

What is a loving relationship?

For me a loving relationship is one that is primarily built on Friendship. IMO, love can follow friendship but not the other way around. I know that may seem way to simplistic but it's been my experience that friendship is the cornerstone of any good marriage or relationship - way more than so-calle...

Re: Fear of love ???? what do i do?

Why do I have a feeling of being "swallowed up" by my boyfriend? I'm not a professional therapist but I'd guess that you are suffering from some kind of engulfing/overwhelming violation in your childhood so this current relationship brings up fearful or unhappy feelings/thoughts related to your ear...

I have come back to your post to edit my reply because there is so much more that I want or need to tell you (and others) about relationship skills so........... My partner and I have been together for 10 yrs. Due to his background of child abuse (emotional, sexual and psychological), I believe our ...
