Re: If I don't have to "fix", then what happens?

Envision a wind-up toy, if you keep winding it, it keeps dancing, lets say this is you. Every thought-formation reacted towards maintains tension in the spring in this toy, your continuously getting wound up, at times very tight. Observing thought-formations(or as Eckhart calls them individual ener...

Re: If I don't have to "fix", then what happens?

So the better question is "What do I see in myself?" rather than "What do I have to fix in myself?" I've been doing Byron Katie's work, and this has helped me see the difference. Through turning my fears and resentments inward, I can see that they only exist within myself, that I project myself onto...

Is goal setting not for everyone?

Seems like goal setting is really pushed on us, in school, and in all sorts of writings. If you want to succeed you have to set goals, when you go to job interviews they ask what your goals are. Up until now I just kind of accepted the fact that I'm probably lousy at planning and am aimless, but sin...

Re: If I don't have to "fix", then what happens?

Sounds like you know the answer. You aren't the anger. It arises, comes and goes, shows itself and leaves. What's left is you. Focus there and you can't go wrong. That's kind of the conclusion I have come to. I think that the vision of a better self is just that; a vision. The desire to be "fixed" ...

If I don't have to "fix", then what happens?

This was originally a long post, but I think it can be summed up pretty easily; is managing pain from a long time ago any different from managing pain that's happened recently? I've heard people talk about "getting to the root of the problem", maybe not on this site as much, but other places. I feel...

Re: People who lie

I feel like a common problem is not allowing the anger to be. I think that it's very easy to label myself as an "enlightened person" and set up expectations. Unfortunately this is still all based in thought and is not reality. ET has said that in the presence of someone who is acting through their p...

People who lie

I just found out that someone fabricated a traumatic event from their past. It happened a really long time ago but my immediate reaction was rage. Before this incident another person I knew lied to me and I kept my feelings to myself and said I wasn't mad. I wanted them to feel safe, and I felt some...
