Re: Is everyone here anxious?
Hi Nate, Yes I had anxiety. Anxiety is caused by too many future based thoughts, so one way of lessening their grip is to go into the NOW for as little as a couple of seconds, as often as you can throughout the day. If the fear is strong, it is good to just FEEL the fear in the body, to stay with it...

Re: What is the pain body's purpose?
In the talk Dissolving the Pain-Body, Eckhart says of the pain-body: As you bring consciousness to it the trapped energy becomes freed.....I sometimes compare it to a piece of heavy wood that has been burned or coal, the coal is transmuted into fire - the flame of consciousness. First it was a heavy...

Re: Tom Campbell-Holographic Evolution
Eckhart writes in A New Earth p.126-7: As the new consciousness emerges, some people will feel called upon to form groups that reflect the enlightened consciousness..........Even if the members that make up those groups are not totally free of ego yet, there will be enough awareness in them to recog...

Re: Hullo from China
AA is a spiritual program. When I first came into the program I couldn't use the word God as it was a word full of such negative connotations for me and as I got more Into sobriety the word God was just a word and I didn't feel so hostile towards this word or a lot of other things for that matter. ...

Re: Quieting the mind and stop reacting to the ''what ifs''
The relationship with fear is a big one to explore. There is awareness of the automatic reactions to fear. What is it, these reactions and what is the fear? In my experience it one day seemed all too common that fear appeared blindly obeyed by a scurrying into thought and imagination for some famil...

Re: Finding a partner
It's a strange thing for me. I enjoy my own company immensely. I go on holidays, to the cinema, meals on my own often but I listened to one of eckhart's tapes. He said on the physical level, we will never be whole. I think it's recognising that, and not getting lost in it. Hi Andy, if you have not ...

In the following clip, Eckhart talks about moving between no thought and thought in order to engage well with the creative process of writing.

Re: mind aware of mind?
I understand your frustration xpansion, I think initially it can feel like mind looking at mind because that is how we are used to operating. There is a lot of groundwork that is then done through practicing presence, which can seem a little boring for a while. But you know it is working once the pr...

I really like "accept this moment as if you had chosen it", it puts you right in the heart of being.

Re: Concern for the forum?
Great post runstrails, I would not have raised the point but now that you have asked, I too was feeling concern that people who are either newly discovering Eckhart or who are already very dedicated to Eckhart's teaching would be put off and wouldn't join. Maybe it could be split up a bit more clear...

Re: Reality Check
The story that I keep going back to is that of the enlightened Buddhist monk (Zen, I think) who left the monastery, moved under a bridge, and lived a simple life drawing no attention to himself. That's the litmus test for true awakening, I think: Can you happily take up residence in everyday life, ...

Re: Could thoughts be conscious?
I love witnessing and participating in internet drama. Yes, drama can have an addictive quality to it. I like this passage from PON regarding drama p.151: When you live in complete acceptance of what is, that is the end of all drama in your life. Nobody can even have an argument with you, no matter...
