Re: awareness

Of course there is no answer and of course it's a concept and of course I'm using analytical thought and logic and so is Eckharte Tolle in his books. ETs ideas are just as much a hypothetical concept as mine. It makes perfect sense though that if my awareness is the container for all that is then it...

awareness

If I am awareness and you are the same awareness, if thoughts, emotions etc are content within this awareness and everything is one then why can't I hear your thoughts and feel your feelings? If there is no separation wouldn't my awareness also contain your stuff?

Re: disenchanted

I think i had a bit of a break through. I started to think of something intentionally such as "what shall I have for lunch, maybe Ill have a sandwich" etc and then I realised I was consciously aware that I was planning my lunch. So i asked myself "who or what knows that I am thinking and just like t...

disenchanted

Everything I read in this area of spirituality not just ETs teachings says things like "if you are aware of thought etc then this awareness must be separate to thought and therefore be the 'real you' ". I've said this before but after a few years of meditating everyday on average of 1 hour as well a...

Re: Death

It doesn't matter whether the "real you" is eternal because the "body/mind you" is the one thats going to feel the pain not the so called eternal consciousness. ..umm.... doesn't death end the body/mind & therefore any sensation of pain? hahaha I was looking for the 'question' in the OP, and found ...

Death

Eckharte says this - "Most people feel that their identity , their sense of self, is something incredibly precious that they dont want to lose. That is why they have such a fear of death. It seems unimaginable and frightening that I could cease to exist. But you confuse that precious I with your nam...

Life partner

i need some advise. My partner is not into any of this stuff. In fact he is very closed off to it and the moment I begin talking about it he gets irritated and crosses his arms and legs. Last night he accused me of being a zealot. It's very difficult feeling so excited and passionate about this stuf...

Re: Abundance and poverty

Abundance is deeply misunderstood by most people. And so long as you control the definition to within a limited context in order to make a given point about children starving, it can be quite convincing. That said, do you think that abundance from a spiritual, or greater consciousness, perspective ...

Abundance and poverty

I have been reading and listening to Eckharte's ideas/views around abundance and gratitude and I kind of get what he is saying about it coming from within but I feel that it's a bit western society centric. He says that what you think the world is not giving you, you need to give to others. We all k...

Re: mind aware of mind?

Great answers everyone. Thanks. I need to let go, stop seeking and just accept where I am at. It's difficult sometimes because I read these books that all speak of awakening and enlightenment and then I find myself craving that. It feels like a carrot dangling on a stick in front of me. They say thi...

Re: mind aware of mind?

But you're not really answering the question, you are just giving a mystical sounding description of an experience you had. I have no idea what you are talking about when you say 180 inward etc. As I said my when I become aware of thought how do I know this is not just mind being aware or mind? I ne...

mind aware of mind?

When I meditate or even just when I become aware of my thoughts during the day etc how can I tell that it is so called "timeless awareness" or "consciousness being conscious of itself" as ET puts it? Couldn't it simply be thought being aware of thought? Or mind of mind? I dont want to be deluding my...

Re: lack of life energy

My own experience.I felt like this for a long time but recently I have felt a shift. I believe the reason that I felt so lacking in energy was definitely because of the unconscious story I was telling myself about how I "should" be. There was a sense that I had to be somebody and get somewhere, to m...

Drugs and alcohol

I've heard ET discuss addiction but he hasn't said anything about moderate drug and alcohol use. Would ET enjoy a glass of wine occasionally or socially? Personally I found myself drinking a couple of glasses of wine each night and I felt uncomfortable doing this after many years as there was some f...
