Re: nirvana = samsara

Yes! This is a refreshing, grounded view point that seems to be getting lost in the more 'cosmic' aspects of spirituality. LOL, @ the 'cosmic' aspects of spirituality. I simply call them platitudes  that may be a bunch of pretty words, but really don't say much. I think spirituality can be...

Re: How come some unconcious people can be happy?

In my environment I know there are a lot of people who are not into spirituality or presence at all. They are pretty much just taken up by their minds, life and social life. But they seem just happy. Very egoic as in, looking for social approval, playing the game, seeing flaws in others, gossipping...

Re: Eckhart Tolle and the Trap of Acceptance

Just to revisit this. I recall in one of Tolle's DVD's I have talking about something on acceptance and its misunderstandings. This is paraphrased of course, but Tolle spoke about a person who was at a job for 25 years and was miserable about it with the thinking of acceptance being: "Well I've been...

Re: A Question

Can this translate in spiritual work? Lets say a person meditates for two weeks and practices embracing the silence and living a mindful lifestyle. However, when he/she meditates his/her mind is rambling. When he/she practices mindfulness his/her mind rambles. In other words, he/she is going throug...

Re: eckhart tolle tour too expensive

The Power of Now is a very profound book , possibly the first book written by a westerner that describes Buddhist and Christian teachings in a simple and demystifying way . It was written in a way that we could understand , it awoke something in us that grasped the meaning of the words but still le...

Yidaki wrote: Imagine if he didn't copyright it and someone else took his ideas and claimed them and then he finds himself back on the streets. What does everyone think of this?
What makes you think they are actually "his" ideas?

Re: I would like to be like E.T

Why do you want to be like Tolle? When you say that you want to be like someone else, you are saying you want to be the idea you have about someone else. It doesn't mean that it is that person's reality, only your idea of their reality. Not to mention it is resistance and denial of yourself. Truth b...

Re: Eckhart Contradicts Other Spiritual Teachings?

I think there is definitely evidence that the mind can certainly influence our reality. There is the phenomena in counselling and psychology known as the self fulfilling prophecy and then there is also the placebo effect. I'm typing from my phone, so I won't elaborate on it

Re: Eckhart Contradicts Other Spiritual Teachings?

There's nothing inherently wrong with what Tolle calls playing with form. But LOA at least in how books like The Secret present it, I would not necessarily call a spiritual path.

Re: ET and ACIM

Peas, you're confusing with what some might call the perennial philosophy in which Tolle is not saying anything original, nor Krishnamurti, nor Mararshi, nor ACIM, nor William Samuels, nor, The Buddha or Jesus etc. etc. etc. with a very specific context in which an author is discussing a very specif...

Re: ET and ACIM

Peas, you're making statements and over generalizing about a specific subject matter within a specific context that I highly doubt you're all that familiar with, but I could be wrong. Are you extremely familiar with ACIM, Ken Wapnick´s work, and Gary Renard´s books? If so, you would understand my st...

Re: Assimilation after Self-realization

In another thread RT helped me to realize that there is an assimilation process after Self-realization. I'm thankful for that discussion, because I know and have experienced myself as the Self and the world as the Self through self inquiry or for those who dislike the "I" word, consciousness has be...

You're both right Jack and dj. I should have known better too since this happened to me before on a completely different forum that used the same format. I sometimes use Penzu to write my replies. I didn't think this one took up that much time in that my sign in timed out, but I guess I was wrong. I...

Wow, I just wrote a long response and when I went to reply, I had to log in again, lost the whole thing. Well I'm not wasting anymore time on this.
