Re: Feel like I cant be free due to knowing too much

I guess simply what it comes down to is that I cannot stand self righteousness. But I can be just as self righteous in looking down on others for exhibiting self righteous behavior, such as being overly critical, bigoted, controlling, or authoritarian.

Re: Feel like I cant be free due to knowing too much

I guess what it comes down to is the question of whether Absolute Goodness does exist, and if it is something beyond the Ego. Because sometimes it seems like with all these different moral ideals people have, our only choices seem to be an unstable relativism where what it comes down to is that the ...

Feel like I cant be free due to knowing too much

I still find myself having the same repetitive thoughts and anger about the "threatening other". The "Threatening Other" just refers to some other individual or collective(Such as a group or institution) that have incompatible values. I had some experiences with the "Threatening Other" where I felt ...

Re: How can I be free from the Collective Ego

Go deeper than the collective ego. Find out who and what you are and you will find collective awareness. It's sweet. I was wondering if we can too easily mistake collective ego for collective awareness. Like does collective awareness cancel out the individual awareness? Or is that all beyond labels...

Re: Am I worrying too much about my annoyance with moralism?

I have found that the Collective and the Individual Ego both have a hard time seeing the egocentricity on the other side, but not their own. I dont know about other Spiritual Traditions, but the Judeo-Christian tradition at its best seemed to always be harder on Collective Egoism than on Individual ...

How can I be free from the Collective Ego

I still feel enslaved to the Collective Ego, and have these strong hatreds towards the Collective Ego. I feel just raw anger and hatred for the collective ego, and a strong desire to destroy it, and persecute all "Disciples" of the collective ego. Now I know that the Collective Ego is in fact more i...

Kierkegaards stages of life

The stages of life theorized are the Aesthetic, Ethical and Religious. Basically the Aesthetic is all about pleasure, the Ethical about following Social Rules and the Religious all about Mystical Union. I was wondering if the two stages are necessary. This reminds me of the fear we often have of mat...

Re: Am I worrying too much about my annoyance with moralism?

I have also observed that I much of my attachment to Libertarianism is my overall disdain for external Social Structures. I think this is the Postmodern Metanarrative, but it sees all the problems of society centered around having too many laws and structures. In my case, I feel like the structures ...

Fear of making myself vulnerable to Fundamentalism

I have been observing my thoughts, and have noticed that the biggest fear in letting go of my Ego is of making myself vulnerable to abusive cultlike systems. Long story short, several years back, I got involved with Catholic Fundamentalism due to some difficulties I had with being stuck in an unprom...

Re: Am I worrying too much about my annoyance with moralism?

I think the biggest source of Moralism is due to a fairly recent traumatic experience I had with Spiritual Abuse with being part of Fundamentalist Catholicism, and their belief in Eternal Damnation for committing mortal sins without going to confession before I died. Plus there was so much emphasis ...

Re: The threatening nature of the Collective Ego

I had an interesting insight into the nature of the Collective Ego from Freud. I think it is fair to say what he called the Superego is the same or very similar as the collective Ego. I think Freud is right in how he describes how the Ego and the Superego are strongly tied together. I find the best ...

Re: How do you coexist with the Ego while not being identifi

However, I am wondering if it is best to just accept the thoughts, feelings, stories, preferences and judgments without giving them any more attention than they need. Depends what you mean by accepting them. If you mean don't deny they (thoughts, feelings, etc) have arisen in you, then yes. If you ...

Re: How do you coexist with the Ego while not being identifi

I had an interesting insight into the whole matter of the Ego. I find its not realistic to try and rid oneself of the ego, such as trying to suppress, thoughts, feelings, opinions or intuitions. I find that we all have thoughts, dualisms, preferences, stories, mental images, and such. However, I am ...

Re: Am I worrying too much about my annoyance with moralism?

I think I definitely have a personality where there are things I really like and things I just dont like. Then there are those things I dont care about. I wonder if it really is about identification with liking and disliking things. Because I think a personality that dislikes or likes everything is ...

Am I worrying too much about my annoyance with moralism?

I have a hard time with people who feel the need to take moral high ground over others, especially when they do some disservice to another. I find that busybodies agitate me, because they tend to claim some moral highground for doing what they did, like a controlling person sees themselves as especi...
