Re: Compassion
I wondered how the likes of the Dalai Lama handle grief, and was relieved to hear how much he suffered and how this made him more compassionate for the suffering of others - maybe 'suffering' is the wrong word because of its connotations in this arena - pain may be more fitting. Interesting Jen, bu...

Re: Compassion
In the same way I think the practice of compassion, especially in those tough moments like treasure describes, can help bring about the day when compassion is effortless in the moment. I quite agree with this idea of "practice" as a verb, as preparing. But your post made me realize further that I r...

Re: Compassion
I've really enjoyed your posts treasure. I feel like you and I are on the same page about compassion in many ways, particularly that it is a valuable daily practice. Thanks, Kathleen. Yes, I certainly view the cultivation of compassion as a valuable spiritual practice! The alternatives --- apathy, ...

Re: Compassion
If I was walking past a disadvantaged women, man, child in the street (like the depiction below), I would definitely feel compassion towards them Yes. I get that. I think most people would feel and act with compassion toward "disadvantaged" or "vulnerable" people who are victims of a crime, a storm...

Re: Compassion
Seems to me that compassion is the intention to think and to act as if we are no more entitled to get what we want than anyone else is. This intent is based on the understanding that everyone wants about the same things for the same reasons. The further we realize this, the more arbitrary judgements...

Re: True Happiness/Loneliness
Interesting, KeyMaster and Ralph! Yes, seems it is easier to speak about sadness and pain. Happiness, we can't pin down so readily; can't really put a finger on. As the poet observes, it "floats!" Happiness doesn't require anything. What happens when you are happy is you --- a lightness and liberty ...

Re: Francis Bennett on Life in Form
How precious that you recognize and value the wisdom of the heart as well as the intellectual gifts of the mind, Sighclone! It is very generous and kind of you to take the time to write to Sandy and I. I must say I am honored to be spoken of in the same paragraph as her! She has been a wonderful ble...

Re: What is Love?
hope it didn't offend you, No, not offended, just confused!!! And I am only adding to the confusion. The more I say the muddier the waters get. Actually, I really love Webwanderer's reply on page 1! Simple. Deceptively simple...so look carefully. What he offered was clean, clear and sparkling... li...

Re: What is Love?
"For me, it feels like faith..." is not cutting it. In order to know real love, you need another concept called faith ^_^? Sorry I didn't make the cut! And yes, I need "concepts" in order to write and speak. Others may "hear" something different, but for me, the word faith evokes receptivity, openn...

Re: What is Love?
I would guess the only way to know this Love is to be stripped of the mortal shell... I have been stripped of all intellectual veneers and the worldly vestures have been ripped away. Someday, Peas and Tomgh, if you are among the fortunate few, you will be stripped bare too. It's not easy, but it is...

So glad you enjoyed "Kindness," Sandy! Thanks for your lovely comment. .............................. Love being itself. Czeslaw Milosz urges: Be the presence of love wherever we go. Be in the world in a way that offers respect and reverence. Behold "the glow of ripeness." Love Love means to learn t...

Thank you, Kathleen! Sandy, xoxoxo! Tomgh wrote: How can a person be sure he/she hasn't identified with a belief or a mental concept of love. Re: Francis Bennett on Life in Form
First of all, I am a big Francis Bennett fan, and one of his friends on FB, so it's fun to see him 'over here' too! Seems to me Life teachings come through this world of experience, how else would Life be Life? ... the story had no power over the Heart, over who we are . That's when freedom comes. N...
