I agree with Vpopov , there is no proof that lust has to be released in order for organism to function properly, there are priests who havent had sex in years and proved to be normal functional beings in all aspects, so the theory that i need to release my sexual urge often is obviously without basis, my cat Whisky has sex once a year and he is more happy and serene then most humans i know. :) But he loves to eat every day. Food is needed for maintainance and repair of organism, sex does not have this function. One will find that in a normal person after a buildup of sexual appetite it often drops down and remains there for some time.
I do not mind if people want to have sex as recreation, its their choice, but look at the amount of porn in media, look at how women today dress, short skirts, tight jeans, bras.... (i better stop)... i will sound like a preacher now but unfortunately western society is today based on lust, cocaine and short thrills. Women dont get jobs for being smart but based on how much they can turn on bosses and customers, of course, this again does not mean that sex is a bad thing, but sexyness is promoted everywhere as the most valued thing today, there is no spirituallity on tv and i wonder why is this, when i was a teen why i never saw j.krishnamurti in the morning when youth education program is on, it would sure be more useful then seeing documentaries about stupid factories i never cared for or something equally important i see everywhere on tv today like comedies about drunk teens having orgies in europe.

I gotta respond Brahman, its a very tricky discussion because again even the way you word it makes it seem like indeed there is something that is need to be released and lust is such a spiritually charged word which already has a negative aspect implied. When you say there is no proof that lust needs to be release dyou are implying that lust is pent up, even though you dont think it needs to be released.

The bigger problem is that the only sexuality that is presented is sex as vice which is my biggest problem. Since we at this forum are probably on the higher side of the intellectual scale it would be necessary to point out that sexuality also has become in service of the ego "I get more girls than you" and once sexuality is in service of the self image it is another layer of poison. Sexuality is a natural attraction between 2 people but the ego is using it for its own needs which in my opinion is also responsible for the sexual sickness our culture has.

It is a very complex subject indeed.

I meant it does not have to be built up in the first place, there is a whole culture of sexual addiction going on, everywjere you go you will see addicts, frustrated, angry, worn out, why, because they cant get their fix.
Reminds me of the news headline that goes around every mews channel these days, there was a murderer who killed his victim due to pure sexual frustration, they say psychoanalists will try to figure out why he did it, clearly it is because he is 30 years old, unshaven, no money, no car, no looks, attraction of any sort, yet he sees nudity everywhere he goes, his sex drive is tormented with provocations everywhere on ways he can not handle.

Now there I agree with you. They are given an addiction and conditioned into it so they take it as their nature.

Because it is everywhere like air is, to them its something natural that has to be that way amd can not
be controlled. A sea of pornography that is how things are set up.

I have 3 brothers and all of them are depressed including me, and we know why.
My major story that followed me for years is that of sexual self image and caused years of anger , frustration and depression.
I m slowly getting control of it amd i m aware i fell into this mill of addiction like many others.

Capitalism, initially apparently a western thing ( now it seems covering the whole globe as china and india have now joined the club) uses advertising as its engine to promote its goods and therefore its continuing existence.

One of the most powerful tools in advertising is the use of SEX, both explicitly and implicitly.

Sex is it seems to me is fundamental to our continued existence as physical beings and Capitalism has cashed in on this fact.

Its this capitalist manipulation and explotation which I believe is @ the root of most modern day problems associated with our societies.
