How to know Thyself

Post by DWBH1953 » Sun Feb 15, 2009 6:50 pm

A few lines from a Q and A of Nisargadatta Maharaj .
Nisargadatta is my favorite teacher, Guru, and Master. It was through him I had my first awakening. My deep love for him comes from the way he speaks. So much growth can happen to you by just listening to what he says and trusting him totally. When I read these words below and trusted Nisargadatta with not a single doubt, his words came true for me in a very big way.
Randji

Q: Do I need the mind to know myself?

M: You are beyond the mind, but you know with your mind. It is obvious that the extent, depth and character of knowledge depend on what instrument you use. Improve your instrument and your knowledge will improve.

Q: To know perfectly I need a perfect mind.

M: A quiet mind is all you need. All else will happen rightly, once your mind is quiet. As the sun on rising makes the world active, so does self-awareness affect changes in the mind. In the light of calm and steady self-awareness inner energies wake up and work miracles without any effort on your part.

Q: You mean to say that the greatest work is done by not working?

M: Exactly. Do understand that you are destined for enlightenment. Co-operate with your destiny, don't go against it, don’t thwart it. Allow it to fulfil itself.

Cloudy and chilly. I don't mind though because I am headed to my Course in Miracles class soon!

Enjoy your day RJ.
