Truth is the Offspring of Silence and Unbroken Meditation- Isaac Newton :D
All the busy little creatures
Chasing out their destinies
Living in their pools
They soon forget about the sea...

Every time a thought arises "the truth" is gone.

I know, I just find old quotes that are early insights to this teaching interesting. I think to Newton the concept of truth was productive thought in science and philosphy. We can only directly experience the truth, well not experience it because we ARE it. Newton had the insight that the truth came from silence and unbroken meditation, alertness, vigilance. I felt it related to this teaching somehow.

^ It is an excellent quote, and showed the true genius of the man.

Well, don't forget that 'meditation' in our contemporary culture doesn't carry the sense it should do - it means more like rumination, contemplation, and it certainly didn't mean anything esoteric in the 17th Century!

Sorry to spoil the party, but had to!

Newton meant intellectual rumination, quite the opposite of awareness. Newton by the way was a genius, but not a nice man.
