Does anyone have any favorite poets/ poems to share regarding enlightenment?

I like Ryokan and Walt Whitman.

I love Whitman too, jugu, and Mary Oliver (have already posted about her). Here is another of my favourite Oliver poems, which chimes beautifully with the idea of simply accepting what is:

"Wild Geese"

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting--
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

One of my favourites about time, the cosmos, nature, the environment and post 2012 - http://www.tortuga.com/college/turtle/1.html
an extract:-
stillness is for knowing
hold to your stillness
and the ring of time
will be known to you
when the ring of time is known to you
you can know all things
knowing all things
you can extend the roots of your mind
deep into your body
and the branches of your mind
high into the sky
of mystery and dreams
this is the power of tree's knowing mind
knowing mind in my still center
I keep time
one ring a year for mother Earth
one ring a year to renew our birth
in my stillness I know you
turtle, my friend, forever true!
Life is fascinating. Nature is beautiful. Live life with nature.

Keep the Mary Oliver coming, Colin. It's really good stuff. I think poetry by its nature is transcendent and about seeing the world from a completely different stance, from the point of view of awareness, or a different kind of awareness.
Be present, be pleasant.
