Forum Update, Avatars Lost!

Postby erict » Sun Feb 26, 2006 9:27 pm

Hi Everyone!

For the last couple of hours I was updating the phpBB software to a newer version. My first attempt to update failed. Then I had to completely reinstall the forum, and in the process I lost all the avatars. Sorry :(

At least none of the member and posts data got lost. :)

Anyway, all you have to do is upload your avatars again. And all I have to do is learn from my mistake and back them up next time.

Thanks so much for dealing with the nuts and bolts, Eric. I was due for a new look anyway. I'll do my best to steer a steady course while you're down in the engine room taking care of all those loose screws. :)

This time I'm using http://www.tinypic.com to host my avatar.

Finally, photographic evidence that Heidi is indeed leaning 45 degrees to port, which for you landlubbers means, to the left, as facing forward. :-)

Whether this leaning to port was caused by a bottle of port has yet to be determined.

Rest in peace oh ye lost avatars. Erik, the next time you get to monkeying around down there in the boiler room, lose our egos, Ok?

Has anyone else noticed other changes too?

I will receive a message in my e-mail that someone has sent a private message on the Tolle board. And when I go to check it, there is nothing there?

Also, I now have to log in every time I visit the site. The "log me in automatically" box doesn't seem to be working.

A few days ago I changed the automatic login settings. At first I disabled it completely. But now it's set to expire after 2 days.

Hi Summer - I had trouble logging in yesterday and this morning. I use Firefox browser. What I did to cure it was I went and removed the old cookies; Tools/Options/Privacy/View Cookies - and then deleted the ones related to this site. It worked.

I also noticed that I had to log in each time.

I think getting rid of the old cookies did the trick for both problems. Also make sure cookies are enabled for the site.

Thanks Eric and Heidi,
I am able to log in now, and will see if it expires in two days.
Which is cool. No biggie.

But are the Messages working?
Maybe I should send one? Or someone send me one?
Are they working for everyone else?

I sent a pm to someone the other day and didn't get an answer, so was wondering because it's not like this person to not reply. Maybe send it again?
