Brilliant awareness and enligtenment related short stories

Postby Seeker1977 » Mon Aug 23, 2010 1:13 pm

Hi,

I just thought I would share this with you... I found it is very interesting to read the short stories collected by Anthony De Mello along with Echkart Tolle's books. If you are interested, check the Bibliography section of this Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_de_Mello I started with the One Minute Nonsense and I liked it so much that I bought most of his books.

Cheers,
Attila

Thanks for the link seeker1977. De Mello is rapidly becoming one of my favorite teachers.
I have some of his books, and One Minute Wisdom is one of my favorites.

Very welcome. Oh yes, that is a great book. One of my favorite short stories from De Mello is:

"How does one seek union with God?"
"The harder you seek, the more distance you create between Him and you."
"So what does one do about the distance?"
"Understand that it isn't there."
"Does that mean that God and I are one?"
"Not one. Not two."
"How is that possible?"
"The sun and its light, the ocean and the wave, the singer and his song — not one. Not two."

Oh, love it too.
De Mello had a tremendous sense of humor and it showed. Here is my favorite funny one:

“Henry how you’ve changed!. You were so tall and you’ve grown so short. You were so well built and you’ve grown so thin. You were so fair and you’ve become so dark. What happened to you Henry? Henry says: I am not Henry, I am John”. Oh, you changed your name too?”
How do you get people like that to listen?

Heh, heh--I too love deMello.
Unfortunately I left one minute wisdom on a plane--I hope someone else found it and was transformed by it, the way I was.
I especially love how humble he is and so honest that he does not have an answer to everything. Its really refreshing :)

Haha - can you imagine someone...maybe a harried businessman or someone afraid of flying....finding that little book. And then by the time the plane lands....Oooohhhhhmmmm :D
