Forum Search Workaround

Post by erict » Mon Feb 19, 2018 1:33 am

At the moment, the top-right corner search box is not working. When moving the database, I deleted the search index as it was taking an inordinate amount of space, and the transfer kept failing over and over again.

I will attempt to recover or rebuild the search index when I have a bit more time. For now, one workaround is to search the site using Google.
Search within a specific site
Precede your query with site: if you know you want your answer from within a specific site or type of site (.org, .edu). For example: site:edu or site:nytimes.com.
Here's an example:

The following video also demonstrates how to do it:

I managed to rebuild the search index and the search seems to be working just fine now. But as always, if you notice anything that doesn't seem right, let us know.
