Alan Watts inspired thought

Post by Empty » Tue Jan 23, 2007 10:38 am

Alan watts inspired idea:

If we try to look inside our head to see what is happening in there, we dont think we can, it seems like a black nothingness that cant be seen, and it seems as if we can only see the "Out there".

But in reality when we look out there into the world, we are actually looking at the inside of our head where this vision is being projected, the Now thoughts that we experience of the "Out there" are only thoughts created by the brain as a response to incoming sense signals, we cant see "out there" we can only see the "in here", so when we try to see "In here" we dont think we can because we already are, but dont realise it.

But we are part of the "out there" we arose out of the "Out there" and we will sink back into the "out there" there is nothing esle we can be.

So although we feel as if we are the "In here" looking "Out there", we are actually the "Out there" looking "In here" !

Its all an illusion

I remember in one of the talks Alan Watts made in one universtity campus, he was asked about how/why we come into existence. Here was roughly what he said... imagine you have all the power to manifest what you want. You have a panel with dozens/hundreds of buttons to press. Each button has a label on it. One button when pushed would deliver a beautiful orchestra music in quadrophonic sounds. Next to it is a button, if pressed, would instantly deliver delicious food. Another button would transform the room into a beautiful sunset environment complete with breezes and the cries of the seagulls, etc. At the corner, there is a button with a label called "SURPRISE". You pressed it and boom... here we all are ... in the realm of space and time.

"Life is a game of hide and seek... a cosmic play". That's what Alan Watts told us. In other words, we are the ONE playing the game of multiplicity. A good game of course should be as realistic as possible and what would be more realistic than the game that makes the player totally forgets that it is a game and forget who he/she really is? 8)

What a cool game we are in! So don't lose your nerve. Game, anyone?

He maintains that life should go by the natural order and not to be
ruled by high technology and heavy dogmas.

If anybody is curious about him, his autobiography could be a good start.

He has the ability to make the uninitiated understand his big talks by making his reader take a good look at the universal ordinary life.

Yes I love that quote, we are really nothing but senses feeling our way through the so called world, everything is what it is because of our senses, and over many years we have made the world we know today, we all agree on how the world is, well in most cases. A chair is a chair because we have been told its a chair, and we all agree that its a chair, this is the world we have made. It all could have started of differently, and if that was the case, everything today would be different, it would be a different world, but we have made the world we have and that is all we know.
