I keep thinking of more movies: Zorba the Greek. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0057831/

The movie is about learning to dance in the face of catastrophe; awakening to what is really important in life.

I found Searching for Sugarman to be quite moving. I especially liked the notion that one man's ideas, his art, so fundamentally affected a whole country (South Africa) and helped promote change......unbeknownst to him!

I hope that we all have this power to affect the world for good in at least a small way and do it with as much humility.

I enjoyed a movie called "I AM". It's made by a Hollywood director (Tom Shadyac) whose had lots of fame and success and then has an accident which gives him a PTSD type disorder. This makes him re-evaluate his life and go on a spiritual journey where he questions everything he believes in (sound familiar ). It's a well crafted and well made film.

It's available on Netflix Instant streaming.

Yes Fight Club gets me to the stage where you disidentify with your life story, your possessions. You see the futility of searching for the perfect lifestyle.
One of my favorites. Check out Tree of life. Her? The Covenant. Frequency. Actually, search reddit. Somebody had posted a long list of awesome movies. Many on consciousness and A.I., transcendence, and singularity.

funny reading about all those movies people recommend that they think have something to do with awakening. My humble ego  thinks that most of the recommendations are pseudospiritual. Also, my humble ego thinks that some movies that have at least some spiritual depth are the following

Read Beard (Akahige) from Akira Kurosawa
Throne of Blood from Akira Kurosawa
Himalaya - l'enfance d'un chef
Seven Years in Tibet
La Beauté du diable 1950
Wild Strawberries 1957
Fratello sole, sorella luna
The Truman Show
I Origins (although this one presents a rather shallow spirituality)
Ningen no joken
Dark City

The Road (2009)

It's about the struggle for survival of a father and son in a (fictional) post-apocalyptic world. Quite moving.

Angulimala(2003)---Warning: Most of this movie is disgusting and describing the hell and the spiritual part only starts in the last few minutes. But it can make a satsang/dhamma talk effect If you can watch the entire movie

Spring Summer Fall Winter and Spring

I have other spiritual movies in my mind like Groundhog day but I think all of them was mentioned here before.
