Through negation - by investigating and realizing that which is illusion. Whatever remains is Truth.

The Real exists and is of the nature of witness-consciousness. Of course it is beyond the witness, but to enter it one must first realize the state of pure witnessing. The awareness of conditions brings one to the unconditioned. We can talk only of the unreal, the illusory, the transient, the conditioned. To go beyond, we must pass through total negation of everything as having independent existence. All things depend on consciousness. And consciousness depends on the witness.

By making truth the most important thing in life, and being willing to give up everything you ever believe (old and new) for a greater understanding.

Can one make Truth be the most important thing in life? Doesn't this have to happen on its own? Isn't the best one can do "set the scene" for Truth to manifest?

I know these sound like rhetorical questions, but they're not; I'm really inquiring. :-)

A fair question rachMiel.

My comments were made to a certain relative perspective. What motivates ego? As we know it's generally self-indulgement, self-preservation and/or fear to name a few. For one who is awake in their natural state, such comments are Self-evident. But to one who is yet perceiving through the limiting view of thought constructs and identification with separateness, this suggestion may be helpful in breaking through the illusion - especially one who feels the stir of interest in a mystery they are just beginning to recognize exists, but are not quite sure how to proceed. And that, after all, was the topic of this thread.

Number 1 of the Ten Commandments states: "You shall have no other gods before me." Taken that "God" is truth, then my pointer seems appropriate. Well, from my perspective anyway.

TEMAR!!! This made me laugh out!!

Everyday, I realize and live the truth slightly differently. This is kind of fun, actually. Even when days are super busy, there is always some small insight. Other days more time may be spent in solitude which helps solidify things. But once awakening has started, then of course, every day is an opportunity to experientially live the truth in different, dynamic and everchanging settings--what could be more conducive to getting in touch with the unchanging Self? Much more interesting that hanging out in a cave, somewhere

No such luck, alas, rm!

However, I try to spend a lot of time in Nature--the best art form there is
