Is ego dissolution the key to liberation ?

Post by unbornawakened » Fri Oct 28, 2011 2:00 am

I am sure the answer will be yes if we took a poll on this forum. But of course, liberation, ego, and dissolution must be defined if we are going to talk about it.

Here Eckhart Tolle talks about the ego and its dissolution - very good video:

He defines ego as self identification with form and particularly thought-forms. He also explains that some people gradually dissolve the ego, and such people fall back into identification periodically. He says that he is no longer dominated by the ego, in the sense that he is no longer identified with thinking.

Who on this forum is 100% free of identification from body, mind, etc ?

Ananda does your perspective, or that of the Indian philosophical school that you follow, differ from ET's ?

I am not completely free of identification with form, but I have dropped a lot of things that I thought I needed in order to be happy.. Now I don't pursue my goals with grim determination, but from a place of stillness.
In Shakespeare's words, “There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.”
