What is enlightenment like? or what is it not?

Post by jtightlips21 » Sun Oct 02, 2016 8:42 pm

I have been thinking it maybe better to ask about enlightenment in relation to what it is not. It seems like the mind wants to define enlightenment as either A) A higher level of knowledge, or B) Nothingness. Yet these seem to be mere mental constructs.

Enlightenment, whatever it may be, is only in the NOW. :D

Enlightenment is about clarity. When one truly recognizes that he or she is not what they 'think' they are, then there is an opening to perceive from the standpoint of consciousness and being rather than identification with ideas and labels.

To the degree one makes this distinction there is enlightenment relative to the thought based identity. Of course this recognition is in no way a final state, it is merely a starting point into a consciousness based exploration. Awakening becomes an exploration of inclusion over exclusion when it comes to one's sense of self and being.

Enlightenment is a verb, an ongoing enhancement of perspective toward one's fundamental essence. There is ever a growth in consciousness, so then does enlightenment continue unfolding with greater clarity of being.

That is some of how I see it - until greater clarity comes to awareness.

Enlightenment = the end of suffering. Not more knowledge. Not nothingness.

Enlightenment is not special, and it is readily attainable by everybody.

Enlightenment is mental concept that you created to escape from your own life and suffering. It is like a carrot that you keep in front of yourself and chase after it endlessly, not seeing that you are like a dog chasing its own tail. True enlightenment is the realization that there is nothing to chase after. Nobody can give you enlightenment, it cannot be obtained by following the light of another, you have to find the light in yourself. I do not believe ET can bring you to enlightenment, he might or might not be enlightened himself. Maybe he just created some illusion for himself, got trapped in his own illusion, and he manipulated thousands of people into following his illusion. What can he offer you except for leading you away from yourself? Enlightenment is understanding yourself, your own nature. Everything is in you, you do not have to search for anything externally, your own mind is enlightenmet.
