Is there anything esoteric about enlightenment?

Post by jtightlips21 » Fri Jun 30, 2017 4:22 pm

I dont know if there is much more that needs description. But I cannot help but think that the egoic forms of knowing are all esoteric. Considering that no ego can understand another ego. I have been under the impression that enlightenment was possessing infinite understanding, like a kind of infinite ego. I would compare this to learning some new advanced language, or grasping some complex and paradoxical theology or philosophy. I tend to find that many who think they are enlightened believe that they are entitled to have absolute authority over others.

What is ego?

A sense of self?
An identification with specific thought constructs?
A belief in separateness?
Something else?

What is enlightenment?

A noun? Or a state?
A verb? Or an expansion?

Enlightening is to be still and know I am.

Exoteric corresponds to the external or outer space and esoteric corresponds to the internal or inner space.

To transcend this duality of opposites means to realize that outer space and inner space are both the same.

"Esoteric" can indeed be used as a label by the ego because the ego is blind and cannot know.

To know about reality is not the same as to know reality...

Eckhart Tolle wrote that The word honey isn’t honey. You can study and talk about honey for as long as you like, but you won’t really know it until you taste it.
