Astronomy - God's science

Astronomy - God's science

I've been passionately curious about Astronomy, ever since my early childhood. I have fond memories of sneaking past my sleeping parents to their balcony, sitting on a wooden stool, and looking up, in total amazement and awe. I could tell, even as a not-yet-fully-conditioned child, that the skygazing experience was fundamentally different from the mundaneness of daily life ... I just didn't really know how or why. It was incredibly relaxing and refreshing ... and it still is, to this day.

Over time, I began to see Astronomy as the science of extremes - extreme temperatures, sizes, distances, masses, amounts of energy, etc. On the one hand, you could say it is mind-blowing, i.e. it greatly stimulates the mind . On the other hand, you could say it is mind-numbing, i.e. too humbling to think about. And perhaps, therein, lies the power of skygazing as a spiritual practice/experience ... a zooming out from our world to see that there are others.

Maybe that's all that spirituality is ... a metaphorical zooming out from the significant problems of our lives to see that they are really quite insignificant. Maybe its only true goal is simply to produce a shift in perspective. And, to me, it is fascinating to see its parallels with the science of Astronomy. They both make us see the incredible insignificance of our failed relationships and our work "deadlines" and our malfunctioning cellular phones. They both show us our place in the scheme of things.
God, grant me the humility to accept the things I cannot understand, the creativity to utilize the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

I always was fascinated by Space. As a kid, I always went to the library at school and got book on Saturn or Jupiter. I found the rings cool too. I was a curios. As an adult, I still haven't lost that curiosity.

I have often pondered the question "what is space?"

Inner space and outer space, both are the same.
