Being aware of the inner body, or just the body in general really, is a natural process which arises when we are grounded. Conversely, focusing on the inner body can assist in grounding, much in the same way focusing on breathing brings one into presence. When we are present we tend to notice our breathing.
When our consciousness is mostly focused outside of our bodies, our self-esteem is dependent upon external circumstances, but when our consciousness is centered within the body, we tend to be grounded, grounded like a tree putting down massive roots into the ground. When the wind blows or life's circumstances change, we are confident in the knowledge that our mental well-being is grounded in inner acceptance.
