Below are pure speculations :)
Sometimes it's very important who is giving an advice. If your friend considers you as someone wiser than him then it's more possible that he will honestly give it a try. If on the other hand he doesn't accept you in this position, then he will use ET materials to find flaws and to prove your advice was of a poor quality. Sad, but sometimes true...

Indeed Matt, that is true.

People yearn to be trusted, challenged, encouraged, demanded of and ... respected.
