Thanks for all the response! I'm going to follow Fore's lead and post a poem (I stumbled across), this one which relates to releasing the grip on the past & ultimately the futility of trying to take control of everything that may happen.

The past is the past for a reason
That is where it is supposed to stay
But some cannot let it go
In their head it eats away

Until all their focus becomes
The person that they used to be
The mistakes they made in their life
Oh if only they could see

That you cannot change what happened
No matter how hard you try
No matter how much you think about it
No matter how much you cry

What happens in your lifetime
Happens for reasons unknown
So you have to let the cards unfold
Let your story be shown

Don't get wrapped up in the negative
Be happy with what you have been given
Live for today not tomorrow
Get up, get out and start living

Cos the past is the past for a reason
It's been and now it is gone
So stop trying to think of ways to fix it
It's done, it's unchangeable, move on

Thanks Onceler for posting that wonderful graduation speech.

I used to live in Webster! Loved it there, (except for all that snow!). Desperately miss Wegmans! (Sorry this is So OT!) I currently live on a golf course...the 18th hole! Well, okay, not ON it, but my yard backs up to it. No championships here, but lots of golfers... every day!

Wegmans. I live a mile from the Mothership in Pittsford. Shop there almost every day. :-)

Not so much snow these last few years. Maybe this winter ...

Go ahead, rub it in!

Funny, Runstrails! We got Whole Foods & Trader Joes here finally! I like them, but both of them together don't = Wegmans! W's is the Best grocery store on the planet. Northern VA has a few now, but don't think one will ever come down here to the sticks where I live!

Field trip!

Thanks for bearing with us, Ashley!

Wow, yes Ash, thank you for spreading the kindness!!

Ash said: Life is to be lived, not controlled; Similarly..... Life is to be experienced, not controlled;

I think this an idea worth spreading. What do others think?

I think it's already spreading, by your awareness and willingness to bump it along you've joined in :D (thinking like those beach balls bouncing around an arena).

I have to laugh at the 'apologies' for being, for sharing amid the being and sharing that needs no apologies.

From the speech:
And someday, in 80 years, when you’re 100, and I’m 134, and we’re both so kind and loving we’re nearly unbearable, drop me a line, let me know how your life has been. I hope you will say: It has been so wonderful.

I hope everyone here already knows its soooo wonderful.

(Edit after dancing into the kitchen to make a coffee, smile as big as the world - Ash, forgive me if I embarrass you - love bubbles unrestrained.. my 'joy' ... we've had many a discussion and travelled an awesome journey of sharing perspectives and by George you've 'got it'!!! Nailed on the head you've 'got it'!! To the ends of the earth, thank you for sharing it. Much love.)

Very cute story, rt. :-) And timely, seeing as how the PGA Championship is being played here this week just around the corner from where I live. (I've got a ticket for the final day!)

I remember when Wayne Grady, a truly gorgeous knockabout bloke, won the PGA Championship over there and absorbed the 'success' into his life. Hugging and laughing and loving with his little daughter who has Downs Syndrome, an effervescence of immediacy - fully experiencing what 'is'. Watching him one day switching from 'Dad' to 'golfer' to 'champion' to 'friend' to any other 'role' with ease, I remember thinking, there's 'success'.. right there.

See it is all inter-related  no such thing as 'OT'.

Ash, can you share the 'differences' you've noticed since sharing it?

Great sequel to the first!

It really demonstrates that subtle changes in the way we use language, can bring about big changes in our outlook.

I believe Obama got elected the first Black president, because he was a superior Orator. The way in which we say or phrase things does make a difference to how we live our lives. You could also use the word framing. An analogy would be a window & the way we style or dress it with curtains & window trim can completely change its outlook!

Its also not just words that have this power.

I've been remodelling my house recently, and it is amazing how 'seemingly' subtle changes can create a totally different feel or perspective to a room. I had a eclectic lighting in my house, which I changed to down lights. What a difference it has made... it has really transformed the place. It now feels streamline and spacious.
