Forgot to mention ---Onceler(and anyone else interested -maybe even you enlightened2b!!) you might be interested to listen to a podcast re the global environmental effects of animal farming/greenhouse gases etc. If you go to the Rich Roll website and click on podcasts and listen to podcast 91 --its a real eye opener. :)

Enlightened2b's type of view are of the old order --part of the collective insanity that has been demonstrated up to this point in our history where might is right and the dominant group always try to find a justification for their oppression of those that are weaker than themselves(defending it even when the absurdity of their position is crystal clear).

If you feel so passionate about the issue, why not do something like try to change the laws/regulations? The USDA regulates slaughter houses. If you have an issue with the process being inhumane take it up with them. You aren't going to change the masses by getting all worked up on a spiritual forum.
Take what you like and leave the rest.

From the most basic level of consciousness, identification with forms, eating meat can be deemed unethical.

From an absolute perspective its just the rebirth of form.
