Looking

Post by be-lank » Sat Mar 11, 2006 5:53 am

We are the Looking. The looking itself. Not what is looked at. Not the eyes that look. Not the person that seems to be looking. But the very looking. This looking is awareness.

An amazing portal is looking at the stillness and the space around plants, flowers or trees. Sitting still, quieting the mind, and looking at the stillness around a plant can become a way to awakening.

In a sense we are looking at nothing. It is very simple, but the mind is not use to this, and may resist at first. That’s okay. It is a practice, and with continued practice the mind settles down. And wonders are found.

Is anyone using this portal practice?

Profound, powerful and true.
We are awareness itself. When we hear who is hearing? I am.
Thought forms emerge from this awareness spend there short lived energy and return to the same field that made them.
The witnessing presence embodys awareness and stillness.
That is who you are.
Your the creator of the thought forms that arise awareness teaches that.
Then the duality ends because of the realization that there really is no"thinker"but a powerful silent witness.
Your reference point turns away from thought natuarally on its own and abides in the eternal now.

When we are "looking" in this way, often a gentle breeze arises and kisses our cheek. It seems as if all of the trees and flowers are "looking" at us, too.

We are all aware of each other in an invisible web of love.
As if the Heavens themselves delight in this wonder of Creation.

We are the Listening, too. That amazing spaciousness between sound.
It's unseasonably warm here in Amerika's Hometown, and the spring birds are portalling (new word) sounds like warbling sounds like silence. :)

Brings to mind words by Paul Simon:
In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone,
'Neath the halo of a street lamp,
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of
a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence.
Thanks Summer for your powerful essence and beauty.
