If “you” ---the mind--- did not believe that unhappiness works, why would you create it :?:

Open question…………………..:?:

I'll take a stab at this one. We don't recognize the fact that we are not our thoughts because we indentify with thought and live in the mind. This is the world of the ego not who you actually are which never changes.
My conclusion is we create an "adaptive self" that is "unhappy" and only after becoming awake do we realize that the word"unhappy" like so many other labels is a concept created by the mind to define a self that is in actuality illusory.
Stillness and being who you actually are which is what Tolle calls the witness, from that spacious perpective we realize the falseness of much of what our mind provides us with. Usually drama or concern, comparison to others and other ego mind stuff. From the witness these concept of the mind are seen clearly for the falseness of what they are, which is energy.
So words like angry, sad, unhappy and many others are seen for what they are labels based on mind made illusions.
Once the veil is lifted life is viewed with newness because the actual you isn't weighed down by the chatter of the mind.
The duality is also illusory as we are all one.

Hi Egoicmidget = John and et al:
If “you” ---the mind--- did not believe that unhappiness works, why would you create it?

Open question…………………..?

Good go John. The above query is a tuffy and can very easily threaten and thwart responses from others as it requires deep conscious soul searching difficult to admit or even acknowledge by some.

IMHO, creating unhappiness and openly owning up to it as to why you created it and even worse continuing to perpetuate its negativity one should see it suitably reinforces the ego. In this case as in others, inner resistance and negativity are almost synonymous. Irritability, impatience, fierce anger, resentment and even suicidal despair are born from heavy resistance which in turn creates and anchors itself too the negativity produced.

The pain body & ego believes that through this reality it can manipulate it (you) and get what it wants and needs from you. It believes that through these conditions it can control others, get what it wants from the desirable and/or liberate itself from the undesirable.

Factually, negativity doesn’t work. It thwarts desirable conditions and perpetuates the undesirable. Suffice to say, it feeds the pain body & ego and it loves it. On a deeper unconscious level, once the mind negatively identifies with it, it doesn’t want positive change. It threatens the depressed, hard ass identity it’s adopted and will spontaneously ignore, deny, sabotage and/or circumvent any and all “positive” energy. This, in and of it self, is not uncommon and ET references it as a form of insanity.

To go a bit further into it John, when you said you’d give this question a shot, it probably deserved it literally because interesting enough, when witnessed on a conscious level, some of the off shoot attitude/conditions it produces can run from eerie, to down right scary.

If you close your eyes for a moment and witness the question centrally and just let it float, (If “you” ---the mind--- did not believe that unhappiness works, why would you create it?) it starts to expand to such ominous proportions that you take hold of yourself and realize sometime or another it’s existed in you, me and others in so many different ways. Beyond this and more, our lives on this planet have been somehow negatively affected/impacted by it and have run the gamut from simple egoic disputes to deceit, divorces and beyond into wars and even mayhem.

The good side of this is Tolle’s teaching has allowed me/us to surface “it” and consciously making our space in life a much richer, powerful and peaceful one when at one within……:D

Beautiful explanation I printed it.
It's the thought/awareness paradox.
There are still times for myself when it is still challenging to stay in presence and in the now. Usually at work in the heat of stress, which I handle with ease but there are still small things that evoke thought in me. I will say however, that I react rarely and I see that as a sign of the ego when I do personalize anything. I abide for the most part in the witness realizings thats all there really is anyway. In that space stillness operates and always points out if ego or mind chatter is at play. Sort of a room with a view if you will. And since it's always now why complicate it with thought.
The inner body work helps with that.

Best regards,

John

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding this but 'you' and the 'mind' are not the same

'You' are the 'formless' , the unconditioned, the unmanifested. 'You' may also be the formed, the manifested, if enlightened.

The mind is the ego the seperated energy form that strengthens itself not by creating unhappiness but perpetuating its own existence ( which results in unhappiness).

The ego or mind is unable to create, only the unconditioned can create

Right, this is a dream. I recently had the realization, not the belief, but the seeing that everything is One. In that instance, Scott dropped away completely. It is now very difficult to reference myself, the dream self, Scott. It is seen as completely untrue. A dream. So consciousness appears to be the only thing here, except for some deep seated conditioning (fear etc) that comes through now and again and has the marks of Scott on it.
