Well no popcorn, but an mccpcorn. ;)

Staying on topic *cough* I would just like to add that I resonate with a lot of what has been said. Being a writer I naturally consider myself a creative person, although I wont presume to make a connection between my creative side and what my pain body 'feels'.

On the other hand when I consider the characters I write and some of their most painful, bittersweet moments, I wont deny I get an enjoyable rush of emotion.

What I feel through my characters is a disidentified pain body. It's THEIR pain. It sounds kinda perverse - I guess it's like watching a soap opera - but because it's someone else's pain, you can feel the emotional trigger but still feel good about it because you know it isn't you and you can withdraw from it at any time. Of course it's a lie. It's nothing more than an extension of your own pain body, transposed to fictional characters. But the illusion makes it acceptable to the ego.

We enjoy the triggers such as sad music or deeply moving stories because it isn't 'real life'. It's a phantom. If only it were so easy to remember that our 'real life' isn't real either!

I do consider myself a sensitive and romantic person; whether this has anything to do with being creative I am unsure. But I do experience the quiet longing for companionship as mentioned here, and the negative feelings are oddly enjoyable. In my case it may arise from my being something of a loner. I rarely connect with people in real life so perhaps I let these emotions and longings flow through my writing instead.

PS: For the record, yes you're all attractive, even the guys I'm sure. ;)

PPS: I was a loner before the Internet came along, so fortunately I'm just one of those people who had time on my hands when it arrived.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!

Oh Woe is ME!!!
You see defense and disharmony
Or maybe you think that what I see
Is someone taking a swipe at me
But this is not what I see
How could this be
I think I'll go have a cup of tea
Then I'll be free...
Free to have tea
Anytime I see
That someone thinks of me
Feeling disharmony

Hmmm,

No pain body there at all. But definitely a mask.

(It may be my perception, but I can't help it. More irony.)

You can call me whatever you'd like of course. As long as I am clear the name is referring to me - and therefore no confusion on my end - all is good. :) It's all good either way, actually, I'll just be left in the wonderment of darkness.

This thread is a killer, haha. I've learned a lot and I've smiled a lot - we have a winner !

One is never (well in my opinion anyway) going to be 100% understood. So it varies in degrees. You just learn to make the best of it - to actually look forward to being misunderstood. Why not.. ? Take whatever the hell action you so choose to be understood, but be sure to enjoy it :)

Clare - beautiful posts, as always. Well said.

I *really* dig this place :)

Double cheers! Double cheers!

Bingo! You're absolutely right. It's a mask. All form is a mask.

As long as we remember this, we are free.

ego talking

Post by innermusiq » Thu Aug 10, 2006 3:00 am

There is a great lesson in all the above. I've learned so much about pain bodies and egos. Thanks

My ego feels the need to express an observation though.
Jada if I had been the guy looking into your eyes for 10 minutes as you described, I'm sure I would have said nothing either. Not because of your "looks" NO,

The guy was scared into silence by your BIG EGO not by looks. You bought into the I'm beautiful EGO and it consumed you.Still does. Why else would you post such a photo.

I know you don't mind me saying this as you have said Jada is dead so I'm sure no feelings hurt there.

Lot of lessons here folks.

Perhaps we should tell that egotistical SOB Eckhart Tolle to take all those photos of himself off his website. The nerve!

Ah yes the flesh!

What can we say about the flesh?

It's wonderful to touch.

Great to squeeze.

Loving to hold.

Fun to stroke.

But a pain in the ass when it hurts!!!
