how to use the URL to point to a specific post

I just find out that you can use URL to jump to a post inside a thread within the ET forum. You first click the author's name link, then click view all post by [author name], then scroll to the post. Than click that post link. Once you have launched that post, copy the address from explorer.

by giving the link to a post, we make this forum easier for the reader, also these links are often very meaningful

Good tip, weichen. If you just navigate to the thread you wouldn't be pointed directly to the post # but to the whole page; this way you can skip the copy and paste and quote, and send them to the original post.

And it opens in another window, so the user doesn't lose track of the thread. :)l 8)

a simpler approach

Just find out a even simpler approach to get the address of a post within a thread

instead of activating that post from the [author name] link, get it from the thread. Each post has a timestamp to its right in the format of " Posted: Tue Aug 15, 2006 5:47 pm Post subject: a simpler approach", you can activate that post by clicking the icon to the right of the first keyword posted, then you can copy address for that post (not for that thread).
