Re: Your favourite books/records
I have read Barry's Origins book and it is definitely the most extraordinary story ever told.
It is told in such detail and clarity that one can only wonder at the depth of realisation that leads to such a complete picture of reality.
It is the kind of book can be read time after time. And indeed 'it' - the energetic reality behind the words - can only be absorbed bit by bit......... It is all about nothing and it's energetic.
It tells the story of the Origins of Man and the Universe from a gnostic perspective. It tells the story of everything and written in 1984 it contained a prophetic prediction of the rise of terrorism that everyone is so concerned about today.http://www.barrylong.org/statements/terrorism.shtml.
Well worth the time to read it, producing insight after insight.

I have been inspired by Barry Long's teaching and I write this so as to acknowledge my source of inspiration. It is a wonderful help, and it is a wonderful gift.

Which translation?Ananda wrote:My favourite book is Shankara's Crest Jewel of Discrimination (viveka chudamani)
Would you also recommend the Yoga Vasistha Sara? If so, which translation?
Thanks.

Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily ...
Re: Your favourite books/records
The copy I have is a translation by Christopher Isherwood which is clean and concise, and also contains an introduction as well as an explanation of terminology. You can buy it here, it's a darling little book;

You can also read the text for free online by typing it into google.
Yoga Vasistha Sara is also another excellent Vedanta gem, you can read a good translation here;
