Re: NDEs and Vedanta

Nanci Danison (nancidanison.com) remains my favorite for NDEs. "Even during times of frustration or even anger those remain, and when they do arise there is the simultaneous noticing of the underlying 'true self'. Consequently, disturbing moods or emotions drop away very quickly." I am not immune to...

Re: Thought Exists in Time

Hi Rob X! "But I disagree with your assessment of what constitutes happening in time. I am present when I listen to Debussy, eat an orange or walk through the forest etc. All these exists in the timeless NOW. That’s the point of realisation - to realise that it’s never not the timeless NOW - never n...

Thought Exists in Time

But awakening is not a thought. Awakening is a non-mental experience. Some non-mental experiences do exist in time: the ebb and flow of feelings for those we love, a life-giving walk through a forest, hearing Debussey’s Clair de Lune for the first, and the 500th time, the first bite into an orange…a...

Re: Christianity, Jesus Christ and Spiritual Enlightenment - Non-Duality

Adyashanti's "Resurrecting Jesus." Much of the book is about Jesus being a teacher of how to "embody divinity," and he taught by example. You would enjoy it.

Re: Before the PON was published

This is not authoritative, but he was a grad student in comparative literature, and I think still supported by his parents somewhat. There must have been a trust fund of some sort, but it was running low and then he won a small lottery that enabled him to limp along until he got his little spiritual...

Re: Is Eckhart FULLY realized?

You might enjoy "Journey of Your Soul" by Shepherd Hoodwin. It's all about the relative form of "me" that survives the death of the body, and its journey. I searched around for a reference to awakening and finally found it on page 366 (Second Edition, North Atlantic Books.) Warning: this is about so...

Re: Awakening, Ego and Soul

Moksha is not an experience, it is the understanding and assimilation of the notion that your true nature is the fundamental existence/consciousness which is the substrate of this world. In Hoodwin's book, he channels "Michael" who says essentially the same thing...the Tao throws off "sparks" that ...

Denial, Identity and Being Stillness

We read a lot about the ego and how it’s not “your true self.” While that is surely true, denying the presence of the ego, and/or “fighting with” the ego is not useful. In fact, accepting the ego, or perhaps, recognizing the existence of many pieces and shades of the ego is very important. Guess wha...

Thanks, Smiileyjen, for the fascinating experiences! I don't know anything about ghosts or apparitions, but surely don't rule them out.

Re: Awakening, Ego and Soul

Thanks, rt, as ever! The relatively recent discovery of dark matter and dark energy provide a potential repository explanation for "stuff we don't see"...maybe. A larger question is multiple universes, including ones that are created by quantum events (Google ' many worlds theory.') Way above my pay...
